OK, for starters, i do realise that only casually MK fans are saying this. Guys and girls who have been around for a while aren't saying anything like this but why do some people think this? Shao Kahn and kill Kitana. Noob Saibot can kill Sub-Zero. Kung Lao will be able to kill Kung Jin. If Kenshi's in the game he can kill Takado. But when Johnny or Sonya does this people just think "START A WAR!" Why did ANYONE think this?! Well, goes to show how weak minded some people are. Oh well. I guess this a rant but who cares?

I think a lot of people think Mortal Kombat's reason for being is purely to watch exaggerated murder, so when they hear about the family angle they interpret it as the developers saying "Wouldn't it be cool to see someone murder their daughter," which is definitely not the point, but it is what it is.

Anyone who knows what they're talking about will see past it and the people who want to complain will find anything to complain about because it makes them feel good. It wouldn't be MK if there weren't a group of people claiming it was crossing a line.

So... your solution is creating a new thread to say something that has been said a hundred of times to start another war?

There are already plenty of threads about this topic, most of them including what you said, please let's all of us make the effort to stop spamming the forum with multiple threads about the exact same thing and keep each discussion on the appropiate already started thread.

This is Mortal Kombat.... People kill people... its a game that got famous for its brutal and funny ways to kill people... Now it has to have morals? Next people are going to say, johnny cant kill sonya because they are both good guys! Plus, obviously, when you fight and kill some one in a match, its not cannon... because voila! It has no affect WHAT-SO-EVER with the story! What happens in Arcade Mode doesn't "really happen" Cassie and Sonya or Johnny will not kill eachother in the actual story...

Cassie is an adult, not a child. Sindel can kill Kitana and nobody bats an eye. Johnny and Sonya can kill each other. They can kill all of their good-guy friends, nobody cares.

I don't know what you're talking about OP and as far as I know nobody is really saying that. But you bring up a good point about the kinda awkward downside of MK Family Fued; watching loving fathers tear their daughters apart. We've seen family members perform fatalities on family members in the past with like Sindel and Kitana, but in that case Sindel was at least evil and you could even make the case she was no longer the Sindel that Kitana knew as a child or whatever. And I know "its just a game" and fatalities don't actually mean anything and all that. I'm not saying Johnny mutilating Cassie is horrible, just that it really is kinda weird. Even for MK. When the game comes out its gonna be pretty funny to watch, in a very demented way.

Ok this didn't need a thread. It's been discussed enough already.

Don't wanna bitch or anything.

But Sindel did kill her daughter.
Kitana did kill her mother.

Mortal Kombat trilogy and mortal kombat Armageddon are perfect examples for that. Sindel was good. Kitana was good. They did kill each other. And no one complained about that.

Like i care if i am Sonya that i kill Cassie or Johnny. It is a game. Not real Life.

No, that was not the point here. The point is i'm getting tired of people saying Johnny and Sonya won't be in the game because then they could kill Cassie.

Ed boon started this himself.

Yeah I never understood why some are making a big deal about this thing. Like others have pointed out, this isn't anything new, not to mention they wont likely kill each other in canon, them being able to do fatalities on each other is just a gameplay mechanic. It would be lame if they disabled fatalities between relatives.

I think the difference is Sonya and Johnny raised Cassie. They'll seem a lot more like parent and child than Kitana and Sindel. In fact the only time we kind of see Sindel care for Kitana is her trying to save her in MKD.

I wouldn't be surprised in the future if they make a MK that fatalities cant be performed on relatives or close friends. But of course that wont happen, cause that will be lame as hell

Not to mention that in MK9 its actually part of the story that Sindel kills Kitana.

But Boon is famous for bluntly stating things that aren't true. Just from the top of my head in Tanya's card video saying "her boomerang move is back" for Deception and a ton more.

the difference this time is that the offspring are the total emphasis of this game. So it's kinda consistently on your mind whereas with Kitana and Sindel, the connection was established for storyline deets and to further character development. It wasn't the MAIN point of those games.

Also, Kitana wasn't exactly raised by Sindel. So they're relationship was rather limited. The comics have pretty much established that Sonya and Johnny both had a heavy hand in raising their daughter.

It will most likely be continually referenced. A constant reminder. It doesn't bother me personally, but I think this is why some people are having issues with it.
