I've just read yet another interesting theory in another thread, that Earth might be in a post-apocalyptic state.

I'm not sure that could fully be the case, with illegal MMA fights for Cassie to partake in, then again, post-apocalypse doesn't have to mean going back to the stone age. But on the other hand, I'm not convinced Shao Kahn dying instantly ended the invasion. There probably were still hordes of Outworld minions still around, who probably didn't learn of Kahn's death until later, so they would still be waging the war against us, bringing further destruction to our world.

Not to mention, with the throne of Outworld being vacant, potential successors like Mileena and Baraka could keep the invasion of Earth going. After all, why limit yourself to Outworld, when another world's defences are down?

I think some people are assuming that after Shao Kahn died, his minions instantly knew about it, and either left or surrendered to Earth's forces. But Quan Chi in MK9 told Raiden we merely had a few hours left, so why would Outworld surrenders?

Logically, Earth would be in ruins. It'd still get something of a reprieve, as the clear lack of an Emperor would leave Outworld minions divided, even killing one another following different potential successors.

So what do you think? Will Earth be completely back to normal, should it be so, or will/should our world be a different place?
