I'm not a fan of the roster. Thought they would bring in post MK3 characters with a couple new ones in but nah. Just old ones that were dead, kids of old ones that were dead, and a few new ones. Blah.

doesnt the combined total of characters and dlc make 29? pretty odd number.

im hoping (like injustice did) the most requested characters will be the last dlc

id like it to be Reiko (although im thinking he may be a hidden character) but im betting Fujin because he has an updated model. im sure Ed would have liked him to be in Mk9 if they had time (although he was in Kratos' ending)

then other than Kai and Jarek thats the mk4 lot covered

I am worried about balancing too. Some characters look overpowered already.
All I ask is not to nerf Kano again with no valid reasons like they did in MK9 and to reduce the overall gap between tiers (I don't expect tiers to magically disappear with this game, but at least I don't want to feel pressured that much to stick to another character when I face strong users).
I have opened a thread about balancing, but nobody visited yet; I hope I'm not the only one with these issues.

By the way, though I miss Rain, Fujin, Noob and the cyborgs, I am quite satisfied by the roster. The only character I don't like at all is Jacqueline Briggs. Bringing Jax back was more than enough, we didn't need another steel punched brawler.

question is with everyone complaining about this games roster, would you be nuts and excited if the game lets say only had Sub and Scorpion and the rest was all new characters? it be interested but that's be completely honest why are people bitching about Kitana, Jax and Sonya returning but yet everyone wants Reiko and Fujin etc etc, NRS are trying their best to make a great game they are not that stupid they know if MKX was all new characters it would sell but not as highly as i think it will sell now

they are trying something different and for once have changed the designs and giving people some great gameplay and still we haven't seen everyone's gameplay. what is with all this hate for a game that is not even out yet. people bitched about wanting Tanya and Tremor well you got them and still people bitch geez can anyone be happy. it's just a game like i've said so many times i have posted comments NRS can not please everyone you know what i'm bitching about and hate i would LOVE WOULD LOVE for Sub Zero and Scorpion to just die and not show up ever again.

they dont need anymore ice characters or if they want create a whole new person different from Sub and Frost. but do people bitch about Sub or Scorp NO why is that they aren't popular characters as much as before and yet there they are first revealed in the first trailer.

usually the characters in the roster are important to the story you want the game to be balanced? if they add every character everyone wants this will be Mortal Kombat Armageddon part 2. that was fun but half the roster i never touched nor did i care for alot of them.

NRS is trying to erase their mistakes they did with alot of their characters and every game trying to be different and yet people are upset about it. the game is coming out in a few weeks why don't you all just wait get the game play it and see how everything works out then if you still do not like the game then go right ahead and bitch about.

so if you seriously are not happy cause the roster is too many good guys or your favorite is not there then you will be waiting a long time to see him or her back in the next game(s)

Ok, first of all, you clearly haven't really read the opinions about the roster, where do you get the idea people want the roster to be all new characters but Sub and Scorp' that's foolish exaggeration to make others opinion look unreasonable, why don't go all the way and say that if you don't like or wish the current roster was better that means you want a roster filled with different versions of Tsu-Hao and Jacqui?

Second, people are bitching because they wish more diversity, how can that be so hard to understand? obviously, the complain would imply reducing the MK9 copy-pasted roster a bit to leave space for some post MK2 characters.

And please, don't play the devil's advocate, NRS doesn't need you defending their interest nor you are qualified to spoke in their behalf. I don't see people complaining about the gameplay or most of the design choices. The returning roster is safe, expected and unbalanced in terms of game and faction representation, how is that hate?

Hate is a strong word that gets spewed incorrectly by those to get so emotionally attached to things like videogames to the point they can't fathom any form of criticism towards it for fear the game will get its feelings hurt. MKX has already gone Gold, its success it's secured, no matter how much people complain that wont change, shouldn't you be satisfied with that? If so, let people have their say about what they consider disappointing.

Is the roster actually finished? 24 regular slots and 5 DLC seems low. Plus no word on the boss, sub boss, or secret characters.

i guess you haven't read the thread either look around people hate the designs for majority of the characters and yeah people have spoken out on the gameplay people will say things like i love so and so but that variation does not suit them that much.

Cassie: she looks amazing and funny like her dad, but now that her parents are in what is the point of her, you also can't do fatalities on family that is just wrong, her neck is so long update wow she looks better now

omg they revealed the dlc who loves them, who doesnt BOOM threads on who you hate from the dlc and who you like, so please do not tell me i don't read the threads cause this is majority of what was said for the characters i have written alot i could write more some may not be a complete bitching but its not always nice comments

Is it possible to have good guys who aren't "friends to the hero"? Kenshi is the only one who has ever come close, because he mostly just wandered around doing his own thing -- but even he was always tied to the Special Forces. And what kinds of attributes would make a good guy not "generic"? Again, this seems to be an example of the Villains Are More Interesting bias. You just can't make a good guy that breaks the mold without making an antihero, which is its own tired cliché these days. But if complexity is what you want, this game's got it: MKX has the most grey-area characters since Deception. The motivations amongst the heroes and villains in MKX are possibly the most deep and complex that they've ever been.

And from what we've seen, does MKX even have a main hero that everyone's following, or is it just a bunch of good guys working together to fight a war? Because I don't see a main hero, and I barely even see a main faction. Most of the "Special Forces" characters aren't even from the SF. It's like saying that the Avengers are all members of SHIELD -- it may be nominally true, but it's completely missing the point.



I thought the same thing at first, until the Story Trailer showed that she doesn't have a steel punch. Those gauntlets are some sort of guns and the metal doesn't even cover her hands -- what's covering her hands is basically a pair of open-palmed kickboxing gloves. You know, because of the kickboxing:



Jacqui has started to grow on me, because what she's actually doing is carrying on the legacy that her father almost had back in MK1 when he was supposed to be a kickboxer (named Kurtis Stryker) but Sonya took his place in the roster. When he was introduced, he was given more of a "powerhouse wrestlepuncher" archetype and they hyped up his strength. So Jacqui is, oddly enough, taking Jax into the future by returning to his lost roots. Seems pretty cool to me, now. She still strikes me as the least inspired newcomer, but in all fairness, she's no less inspired than many of the classic and 3D characters that people are wanting to see back, when they first started out.

It should be a band of heroes fighting to protect their realm. But, why not have them in different factions?
