I swear I am so heartbroken about these rumors. It's almost like people talk so confidently about these things. I really don't want this to be the end of the line for me and MK.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: if the next MK game is a "vs." game, particularly against comic book characters, I'll abandon the series.

on a serious note, Boon, if you have any compassion in you heart, this will not be a mk vs. game. vs. games are usually where fighting games go to die much like space is to horror movie charactars. (remembers jason x) ewwwwwww.

This would make no sense whatsoever. If Ed Boon is trying to relaunch MK, why would he do it by having a new cast of characters (he's already said himself that a vast majority of the cast will be new) fight Batman or the Green Lantern? I could almost understand it if all of the MK favorites were returning, but that would be like a marvel vs capcom game coming out where the marvel characters are all new and nobody had ever heard of them. Is that a game that you'd want to buy? Didn't think so.

Midway's not stupid. If they ever did a versus game, it would be on the presumption that people would want to see Sub Zero, Rayden, Scorpion, Liu Kang, Shang Tsung etc face off against (take Virtua Fighter for example) Akira, Pai, Lau, Vanessa etc.

I don't buy this "rumor" for one second. Not one bit, and not just because I'm afraid this could happen and I don't want it to, but because it's so ludicrous and stupid to make an MK 8 with new characters and have them face off against some other series that I honestly see ZERO chance of this happening.

Maybe a side game after MK8, we'd see Ryu and Ken face off against Sub Zero and Scorpion, but as far as ALL info we know straight from the mouth of Ed Boon himself, this rumor, to me, has no merit, even as an idea at this point in the MK series AT ALL.

I'm not buying that crap. Figuratively or literally. I think it's a terrible idea vs any game really, and that it makes no sense at all for them to make MK8 that kind of game.

Especially considering the path that they take when they "renew" the series. The concept of a vs game is a side, or sub-project. Not a Headliner for new technology.

The rest of me knows this will never happen because the rumour of MK Vs DC is BS.

Rumours normally have a element of truth to them though, So I'm thinking that DC artists are actually designing/redesigning the MK8 roster.

Way to pull logic out of chaos. Cuz I actually wouldn't mind that. Get some good graphic artists in there to tone down how bulky these characters looked in the last three MKs.

For 1 thing, Ed Boon said this game is going to be more serious and dark, it would not be serious or dark with Marvel characters and any other type. So that alone proves this is BS. And if they where going to make a VS game it would have orginial favorites from both games, not new ones. And the only VS game I could ever see them do, would be MK VS KI. or maybe MK vs Soul Cailbur.

But for a fact this MK game will not be a VS game. It will be a 1 on 1 full MK game with super dark and gritty detail and realistic as possible.

if you want a real rumor, here is one for you. the characters will be 3d but with 2d backgrounds, so it will look realistic but will be a 2d mk game.

Parts, umm, you said the opposite in thread entitled "Ed Boon:We are doing something [totally?] unexpected in the next game. I was told I could absolutely not talk about it." You said that the gameplay would be 2D but on 3D backgrounds. Now you're saying that there will be 3D characters on 2D backgrounds. Either you made a pretty bad typo, or you're just making this up as you go along.

What i did read when MK:A released as stated in Electronic Gaming Monthly. In their cover feature issue of MK:A was that Boon said that many fans wanted to see a MK vs SF game. He said that he could see it possible in the future. Maybe that is what you are referring to?

Actually, this rumor started as a post on the ign boards.

Suddenly after that, TRMK sais they have some confirmation that this will, infact, be a VS game.

However, as pointed out by CROW, these confirmations are not substantial because the source of the rumor is a person who claims to have spoken with an MK crew (Team) member.

Rumors are rumors guys most crap ppl make up just to start contreversy or something that even midway hasn't even sayed so don't worry about it plus anyway I know mk if their going to make a realistic game with real characters and is like gears of war? To hell with that dc rumor.

That is the point. MK8 is meant to be a reset button of sorts.

They are meant to be sorting out a roster they can take forward into the future. They can't really do any sort of MK Vs DC game until they sort out a respectable roster.

Maybe after MK8, but MK8 will not be a Vs game.

Plus another trouble would be licenses. I'm pretty sure someone already owns the Justice League comic license. They made a X-Men Legends clone a while back.

Im sure its just a prank rumor. Even if game sites are posting it. Theyre probably in on something to get fans rumbling before a real kick ass MK8 is released.

Build up the worst expectations, then BAM! Give em what they really want and chances of the game being bashed become slimmer although not all together.

i don't believe this rumor, but i think midway shouldnt develop any cross-over game with mortal kombat, cause mk has its own universe its own environments and its own taste which cannot be shared with any other popular mythology such as street fighter/star wars/marvel/ dc comics or even super mario unless it won't be mk. it would be a super crap.
(however i'm also a dc fan and i would enjoy playin a new dc title not an mk/dc game but a full dc game with a plenty of dc characters)
