It sticks out in the last Nethercasts the devs had Problems to string Combos together. And that worries me pretty much. MKX is really fast and you Need to concentrate and practice way more then in MK9. Which could be positive but I'm a casual Player and don't have the time to practice all day. It seems much harder to perform Long Combos in MKX. What are your thoughts or opinion about this?

Uppercuts....uppercuts all day long

Combos for sissies

(no for real doing all uppercuts online is hilariously fun)

Testers dropped combos all the time during the countdown to MK9's release. I wouldn't worry about it at all. We'll still be seeing crazy combo strings in MKX. I like that it's faster though because it makes you focus on timing rather than button input.

It actually motivates me more to master my favorite characters to kick some ass online!

Upper cut. Do special move. Upper cut again. Do another special move. Rinse. Repeat.

This worries me too, because it's how I felt when playing Injustice, couldn't combo for the life of me.
So it doesn't make the feeling any easier that MKX is faster than MK9 with Injustice essence.

I had the same problem but that's until I found out that MK9 and Injustice had different combo systems, it has nothing to do with them making it faster.

To string combos in Injustice you have to really relay on your heavy attack button which is back+3 to get in those insane combos.

although I do agree for some characters combos were pretty hard to do and I sometimes couldn't even do them but I'm not worried about MKX being Faster than MK9.

From what I saw so far people are still able to string combos together especially scorpion's cheap ass combos lol.

The guys playing were probably nervous. They are not pro players and aging with a crowd adds pressure.

Actually I think you are just worried cause Ermac is apparently harder to use than MK9. Much harder.

Injustice was harder than MK9, I managed to learn and adapt, but the lack of interest in DC prevented me from going further. This time, it's MK.. I need to learn it just to keep my girl.

This.

They're developers, not EVO players.

You do know these guys weren't pro players right? Yeah they are devs but it doesn't mean they can play the game like Justin Wong or...whoever (couldn't come up with any other example and he's the only name I know)

I guess people assume that if somebody develops a game, they can play it like a master. That isn't the case though. Players often get much better at the games they create than developers themselves.

Yeah I noticed that those guys from the stream missed some (What appeared to be) easy shots to start a juggle or string. Maybe pressure got to them or they haven't spent a lot of time with the characters they were using, who knows.

As for Injustice's combo system, I actually liked it. Idk why but the combo system in Injustice was easier for me. In MK9 I could do plenty of strings and juggles too, but in Injustice it didn't take me as long to figure any out or as long to get them down.

I wouldn't worry. Looked like nerves. For the above average player, it may take a little getting used to the systems. MK9 was pretty forgiving for bigger combos. Injustice had a different feeling system, but that game was far from difficult to combo...you could do double uppercuts! Some of the huge combos were very difficult, for sure. Pro players drop combos here and there anyway.

I like both of you guys, lol. Been playing fighting games since I was a kid and yet I still suck at stringing combos together.

MK and Injustice are some of the most accessible fighting games of all time. While there are some difficult combo's and some characters are harder to use than others, for the most part, the combo system in both are extremely easy to pick up compared to other fighting games. You gotta be crazy to not take advantage of this, the games are sooooo much more fun. You don't even have to create the combo, just look it up online, people will have all types of combo's already written for you including the easier ones that are landed the most consistently while loosing a bit of damage.

Look up one bnb combo for your favorite character and in ten minutes you should be able to do it assuming you have finished the tutorial. Practice it in pieces if you have to, that helps for me when I'm just starting. Being a "casual player" is no excuse unless you're just playing to unlock endings and costumes. If you go into multiplayer learn to play the game.

Trying to play a fighting game and refusing to learn the most basic of combos is like buying a gun and no bullets and then rushing off to go hunting. You guarantee yourself a sub-par experience, to say the least.

Elitists only know combos and winning, not just having fun and playing a game. who cares if we arn't the greatest at the game, i bet were having 10 times more fun actually playing it.

I'm sorry if I'm coming off as a dick, lets pump the breaks a little here. Haven't you guys ever seen a movie that was like the coolest, most awesome movie ever and you try to recommend it to a friend and you KNOW they would love it but they're just like no it looked bad and refuse? Thats how I feel when I talk about the gameplay of these games on this site. I'm an intermediate player AT BEST. I get whooped all the goddamn time. I'm just saying combo's in these games are easier than you think and truely make the game more fun! I know the learning curve on fighting games can seem steep at first, but I swear its not. I hope for MKX you give combos just a tiny bit more of a chance, or better yet, if youre still paying MK9 or Injustice learn one basic combo and land it on somebody online. its fun I'm tellin ya, I don't wanna seem like some douche trying to assign internet homework but if you want guides or have a question or anything I'm happy to help.

I can do combos just fine, but beating somebody with an unorthadox method is way more fun and hilarious.

I was playing MK9 a few nights ago and was like screw it I'm only going to do uppercuts. i ended up winning after like 3 matches doing it. then the other person noticed what i was doing and started to get mad, they were choosing there best charcters and dominating me in combos, but i kept it up getting in the uppercuts and winning like half the matches.

Then the part part happened, they said screw it and started doing it too and for about an hour all we did was have an uppercut battle and it was hilarious.

Iu'm just saying yes getting long combos is awesome and fun, but theres more too the game than combos when it comes to having fun.

Also non combo fighting is great for trolling (my specialty, and pretty much was i was doing glasses )

Oh okay, I'm sorry for saying you sounded snobby. The way I read it was like you were saying we were stupid or lazy for not knowing combos already.

I'm sure the game would indeed be a lot more fun if I knew a few combos for each character instead of just relying on special moves and basic attacks. like I said, I am open to learning. I'd fire up my system and try to learn some combos on MK9 or Injustice this weekend but unfortunately my PS3 recently stopped reading discs. I guess I'm going to have to have it replaced if I want to play MKX and all the PS3 games I have and still want to play. I cannot afford a PS4 yet but replacing a PS3 is still not really cheap. Sucks.

I admit the first time i played injustice i was pretty mind fucked on combo'n. But after learning the bounds shit, it became insanely easy because they had universal properties.

i have a new found love for fighting games since i watched evo last year. it wasnt even about the combos, it was about the playing footsies for 30 seconds and mind tricks. i look at them completely different now after watching people basically exploit these characters. technical aspects do make the game more interesting imo but all that matters in the end is if you're having fun.

i always loved mortal kombat because it was a valid single player game (probably the only single player fighting game). i'm admittedly a button masher so i never played online. i was good enough to beat my buddies and the computer but thats about it. after evo it was interesting to pop mk9 back inpaying more attention. i even bought street fighter 4 again to give it another try. i'm glad that "epiphany" came in time for mkx lol. I'm going to fuck someone up online this time combos or not.
