What? Your crazy. She has tons of fans and has other moves like fire, black magic, her weapon things, and split kicks. And the game is going to spend at least 25% of the game in the Netherrealm. Why the hell would they show it in the comic when its obviously a big part of the game. That is also why they havent mentioned too much about it, they dont want to spoil it.
Tanya also could play a part in the war. I feel like she is going to either side with Mileena or Kotal but only to try and get the throne herself. There is no way she wont be in, especially since she was almost DLC in MK9.

I envision that Shinnok be in the game. And I think that after the first arc of the Netherrealm War, Shinnok and Quan Chi will be on opposite sides. So each of them need at least one follower. I imagine that Noob Saibot representing the forces of Quan Chi. And Tanya the Shinnok. This veiled confrontation is even hinted at in the magazines with the Black Dragon Head (we know that Kano and Quan Chi has agreements) against the Red Dragon (which we know to be connected indirectly to Shinnok). And I see no chance of failure of the Netherrealm Invasion except that Shinnok and Quan Chi quarrel and the rest of the game each follow an own agenda for the area of the whole universe. We know that both are manipulative and act in the shadows, that Quan Chi survive the war and do not believe that this time Shinnok be banned or destroyed in the first act.
I believe that at least one woman 3D line will have a place (which will be Tanya, Li Mei, Sareena or Frost).
I also believe that in addition to Quan Chi and Shinnok, we can have one or two characters MK4 (and there are plenty Tanya, Reiko and Fujin) believe that Kai and Jarek is less likely than the other three.
And revealed fiery characters were only one up, Scorpion.

Just a reminder about something the OP got confused:
The comic starts years later than the game story. The game will cover the netherealm wars, then the outworld civil war and then we don't know what else, but we know that it starts just where MK9 left it.
In fact, Kotal Kahn ascended to power because Mileena refused to take measures against the netherealm in case they turned their attention to outworld and Kotal insisted on forming a defense which gained the public opinion for him, so many of the new outworldians could be shown during the netherealm wars too.

I honestly feel like her odds were better in MK9 and she fit better in MK9.
If this game had been a retelling of MK4, yeah, sure, she'd be a shoe-in.
But all signs seem to point to them glossing over MK4 for the most part, or at least not giving it the full focus of the entire plot. This game seems to MOSTLY be an all new outing that takes place later in the timeline. Not enough room for all the MK4 characters to return, and it doesn't even look like most of them will.
It seems like elements from the previous 3D era will be included (Kamidogu, Chaosrealm, 3D Character Cameos, Etc), but the game won't be a retelling of those plots.
So where does that leave Tanya?
The only two times we've seen her, she was basically playing Shinnok's Minion and Onaga's Minion. They also added a rivalry with Jade.
If Shinnok is glossed over, Jade is confirmed dead, and Onaga is very likely still an egg they're probably going to keep in their back pocket, should they ever want to revisit him, that doesn't leave her story a whole lot of meat left to grab onto.
If they'd put her in MK9 they could have explored her backstory with characters like Kitana and Shao Kahn, and laid the seeds for her later betrayl. Plus MK9 had a serious Ninja nostalgia overload going on that would have made her a more fun inclusion (we could finally have seen her in some classic Yellow Ninja garb through classic skins)
If they add her now, they'll have to concoct an entirely new plot to shoe-horn her into the story. If we presume her MK4 story went mostly the same... her old master was defeated and she was exposed as a traitor. We don't have Jade to put her up against anymore, we know that. So where does she fit in? Is she just another minion? We have a lot of those in Outworld already...
I'm not saying her odds are zero, but I agree, they're not as good as they might have been in an MK4 remake, or even in MK9. But Boon seems to like her (I believe she's named after his sister, if I remember my trivia correctly) so ultimately, who knows. Maybe she'll squeeze her way in.
Doesn't seem impossible to work her in, but she's not as natural a fit as she once might have been, is what I'm ultimately saying. Especially with Jade confirmed to be out.
As I said in another post, she feels 50/50 to me. Won't surprise me either way ultimately.

Well, no matter what anyone saids, to me at least, Tanya is NOT, and will NEVER BE a ninja. She's not. I will just say that. The heck with story(since I never care for story in a fighting game), I just want her in no matter what in fighting game play perspective only. I don't even care if the kharacters don't have endings. That's all I am going to say.

Does anybody else think that Jade not being in the game is because of Tanya? Jade is my favorite MK lady, but if it means Tanya gets to be this badass traitor bitch like she was always supposed to be (think of Littlefinger of Game of Thrones with tits), then I am all for it.
Who knows, maybe Kitana is hunting her down with Jade's weapons now?
Fuck, still pissed Jade is not in the game...

Right, so now the question who will be Tanya's "nemesis" or antagonist? I guess we're going with the jealousy of Kitana route.

Sindel is likely to be dead too, but Tanya has enough ties to Kitana if they really need a rival for her. Her rivalry with Jade isn't as big as Kitana/Mileena and just because Jade is dead, doesn't mean Tanya has no purpose, especially when you consider that that rivalry was one sided, as Tanya didn't give a shit about Jade.

Why does Tanya's rivalry have to be with another woman, though? Kitana seems to be focused on Quan-Chi at the moment.
I dunno why, but I always thought Tanya and Rain would make good allies, at least temporarily.
In the old timeline Kitana V. Tanya made sense. Tanya betrayed Edenia and Kitana wanted justice for that. However I think a Quan Chi against Tanya could be a good mentor-student rivalry.

I mean whats Kitana going to do? Mileena is too caught up in the War. Maybe Kitana vs Tanya will be happening.

If Tanya is in, I hope she gets an almost COMPLETE gameplay overhaul.
No fire based moves.
No returning special moves except the cannon drill.
All new mix of Viola from SCV and Rose (Ultra II) from USFIV styled purple orb game-play. Her appearance would be more Egyptian based.

Tanya just doesn't have a place in the storyline, so far. She's of no real use to anyone. Mileena has Reiko (and vice versa), Kitana represents Edenia (or what is left of it) and there's already a slew of supposed new characters we are supposed to be getting.
D'Vorah seems more like the type to fill the role of "backstabber" and Rain could be Kitana's rival, since Boon has been hinting him so much.
Just let Tanya die along with 90% of the other MK4-era+ characters we won't see again.

So you want Tanya to copy the moves of characters from TWO other games? Yeah, she really has potential and is deserving of a spot then *rolls eyes*

Why does it matter about the past original timeline's story? This is a brand new, alternate timeline.
Plus, NRS can easily retcon her entire character. Not like I like retconning, but they can do it very, very easily.

I mean, to be fair, they changed Mileenas storyline a bit in MK9, so I don't see why they wouldn't be able to tweak Tanya's story for MKX.
1)Quan Chi is in the game.
2)Shinnok made an appearance at the end of MK9 so she can easily be written in.
3) Tanya was completely unbothered by Jade in the original story line, so she doesn't need that so called rivalry anyway.
Tanya's appeal is that she's manipulative and always links up with the winning team. She has no real loyalty and in many ways she could be considered a free agent. MK writers are talented enough to work out a great modified story for her and maybe even give her an end goal she's trying to achieve to increase her chances in future games as well.
I honestly think the only people she'd ever be loyal too are in fact new characters who SHE helped elevate and appointed positions to... SHE'D have to be the Queen B and have her own loyal minions. The catch is she's been manipulative and deceptive so many times, that it would be extremely difficult for one of her minions to trick the trickster.

I think Kitana vs. Tanya is a great story rivalry. Both women are not just pretty, but INTELLIGENT and political geniuses. Kitana has more experience in combat, but Tanya is more embedded in the dark arts. However where Kitana wants to redeem herself from a screwed-up past as an assassin to Shao Kahn and free Edenia, Tanya does the exact opposite by siding with Shinnok and betraying Edenia for her own means, using her intelligence to manipulate and hurt people unlike Kitana. So Kitana and Tanya are both polar opposites of each other.

Khameleon's Armageddon moveset would suggest otherwise.
I'll grant you Tanya herself has never officially been a ninja as yet, but if Skarlet could be retconned into the position of Red Female Ninja, I see no reason why Tanya couldn't (or shouldn't) be retconned to the position of Yellow Female Ninja, and Khameleon having one of her moves supports this notion. So I have no problem considering her as such.
Had she been included as DLC for MK9, I'd bet money she'd have gotten Klassic Skins in the vita version which were yellow recolors of the female ninjas, just as Skarlet did.
And technically... she's even a pallette swap of Kitana. Kitana was originally going to be in MK4, but was written out and replaced by Tanya to add more new characters (As was Noob with Reiko, and Kano with Jarek). Still, Kitana appears in Liu Kang's ending, and is the same model as Tanya in different colors. SO... there's even some credence toward the idea that Tanya could arguably be called a rare example of a "palette swap" in the 3D era.

We agree to disagree then. I don't want to fight over this matter, but to me, (Emphasize on 'TO ME') she will ALWAYS be a NON-Ninja. I don't care what other people labels her. But to me, I will NEVER consider her as a ninja. Simple. Even if she gets the yellow ninja kostume, I will probably NEVER use it. Simple. Also, Skarlet STARTED as a red pallet swap female Ninja in MK2(error I think, or red was the Original color of the female ninjas, I don't remember, but there ARE videos of Becky Gable shooting as a Mileena in red kostume in UMK3 I think), Tanya NEVER was.
