I think Johnny has a good chance at returning. He's a pretty iconic character, he survived the events of the last game, and it would introduce a really cool father/daughter dynamic. Also, I think it would be interesting to see him mature, possibly undergoing a Seido transformation.

If I remember correctly, he was kind of the "man in charge" of the forces of light in Armageddon, since Dark-Raiden and Zombie-Kang weren't in the right states to lead them. I think it would be really cool for us to see his transformation into the lead good-guy, rather than just the comedic relief second in command.

As for Sonya? No. I don't see a reason to have both her AND Cassie on the same select screen.

I like that idea of Johnny training in Seido. Maybe Hotaru takes him under his wing and trains him.

Somebody released some audio between Cassie and Kano to make it sound like Kano killed her mother. So I think it is really going to happen. If it does I hope Cassie gets her revenge.

I want them both in but I can understand if one or the other isn't. I will be upset if Sonya is killed off though....

Don't think she will be killed off, she might not be playable but I don't think she will be killed but I don't understand how they will make her playable seeing as in MK9 she is about 25 years old if not 30 and add another 25 years to that you'll be playing as Grandma Sonya and a lot of mortal kombat players will get confusing boners over Grandma Sonya.

Story wise, surely they're both in it.

Gameplay: One interview said that Johnny Cage is playable. As in, able to do Fatalities type of playable. While another interview with Ed Boon, I'm paraphrasing, but basically as Cassie Cage, able to do Fatalities on parents, because apparently they never saw it that way before and said screw it.

One thing that can always be expected whenever these two are brought up in a thread are fans wanting Johnny back, but not Sonya, since we can't have two blonde military gals, since they'd have to be identical or something.

If they have to kill off one of Cassie's parents, then it should be Johnny, since he's the one expected to return. As for why he's expected to return, well there's his MK9 ending as was already mentioned in this thread, but it's also the usual sexist bullshit that requires that women aged 45 and older be essentially dumped, as well the "women in refrigerators" trope.

In short, an old Johnny would probably be like Sean Connery in most people's minds, while an old Sonya would be like the old hag from the Shining.

I think they'll both be in and playable. In one of the interviews shortly after the announcement back in June, Ed briefly mentions some characters being different ages in different variations.

Since Earthrealmers are the only ones that really age significantly in a 25-year time span, I would think that would be referring to Cage and Sonya, primarily since they are the only Earthrealmers alive at the end of MK9, besides Kano (and Cyrax & Sektor, but they wouldn't visibly age).

On a side note, this makes me wonder about Kano and exactly how long he'll be around in story mode before being offed. He's the same age in all of his variations and he's definitely mortal. He's aged a bit...maybe by 10 years or so, but not by 25 years. I think it can implied he bites it somewhere in story mode somewhere after the 10 year mark (even though the story jumps back and forth between years, apparently).

To the topic, it's been said in various interviews they're both going to make an appearance in the game. It was talked about that Cassie will be able to perform fatalities on her parents. Other stuff has been mentioned about these two and Liu Kang (And I believe Kung Lao but I could be mistaken with that one) will make an appearance.

As for them being playable, I hope so. I hope both are for the sake of showing all of these fans who keeps saying it's impossible for Cassie and both parents to be in the same game that they can be.

It was a leak from somebodies phone and it was on Youtube for a short time but it has been removed. I don't remember the dialogue.

I don't really like Sonya, but I can't see her being killed. What would be the point to keep her alive just to get killed by Kano in MKX? The most I can see happen is that Kano wounds Sonya pretty bad and therefore, Cassie replaces her mom.

Johnny is definitely playable.

I don't really care. Even though MK1-3 are the games I grew up with and the characters from those games have always been my favorites, I have never been a huge fan of Cage and Sonya , nothing against them though, I just don't care if they are playable or not.

I don't see any valid reason to think Cage is going to be in but not Sonya except for plain favouritism. Personally, since Cassie's reveal, I don't care for either of them.

Sonya and Johnny were both confirmed as playable by that German magazine that leaked Kano. They said Ed specifically said Sonya, Johnny, and Liu would be playable with variations that represented them at different ages.

I'd be alright with a cameo for both of them but only one should be in the game. Absolutely no reason for all 3 of Johnny, Sonya, and Cassie to be in the game. That would make me mad with the limited roster spots. I'd prefer that neither of them make it in but I'm sure one of them will be in it since Boon kind of alluded to it.

I firmly believe that Johnny will die in this game. I think that he'll sacrifice himself to save either Sonya or Cassie or both. It will be the most selfless act of bravery ever by Johnny, who would do anything to protect the women he loves.

Following Johnny's death, Cassie will avenge him by taking out the man who killed him ........ Quan Chi!

They don't have all of their moves if so then that would make her cheap like shujinko copying everones moves

After watching a ton of videos of Cassie, her moves are nothing like Johnny Cages. She has similar moves to Sonya, but there not the same moves they're completely different.
