Some of the characters are not canon (huge spoilers)

While we're on the topic of dead people becoming Revenents
Is anyone else annoyed by the way they're... inconsistently handling that? And by that I mean...
Bi-Han dies and becomes a Revenent. With that comes a name change to Noob Saibot and new powers. Why? Every other character retains their old powers, including his brother who has the SAME powers. Hell Mileena died in the MK3/MK4 era and became a servent of the Netherealm, and she seemed completely and utterly unchanged by the process (She did have white eyes in MKG, that's about the closest thing to a side effect I ever noticed, and that didn't even last through MKD).
Speaking of Name changes, Smoke also gets one. He's apparently Enenra now. So maybe Noob's name was also a matter of personal preference. But what makes Smoke wonky is the fact that his MK9 ending referred to him as "An Enenra" which made it out to be a type of demon, not a specific demon's name. I assume this was a deliberate change by NRS to suit their preferences, and MAKE Enenra a specific demon, but it's still a bit of a plot hole.
Now back on Sub-Zero... we learn that Quan Chi's revenent process had the side effect of stripping away his cybernetics. YET we completely gloss over the fact that Jax is ALSO a cyborg, and completely retains his Cyborg components as a revenent.
Do they keep or lose their personalities?
Do they keep or lose their names?
Do they keep or lose their powers?
Do they keep or lose their robot parts?
It's completely inconsistent. But I think it's supposed to be one of those Basil Exposition Austin Powers type things where NRS says to us, "Just don't worry about it and try to have fun!"

It's just confusing to have Mileena be this big antagonist with Tanya and Rain as her two right hand men that you battle throughout storymode only to have Tanya and Rain not even be in the actual roster while other characters who aren't even bringing anything to the story are seen in promotions and on the initial roster front and center.

Yeah I feel like this would have made a little more sense, especially if they revived returnees aren't really doing much in the story, it would make sense (to me) to have the more story relevant characters on the roster, and have the less relevant ones be NPC, DLC, or unlockables.

Wait so liu kang, Kung Lao, and Kitana were never freed from being revanents?
What a waste (for initial roster slots, they should have been the DLC).
I understand that making the roster shouldn't be (personally I think it should) be just based on story relevance, but when they were just in the last game and then there's other fan favorites that we haven't seen in over a decade (fujin, tanya) that over more relevance and they choose the former it leaves me sour.
but whatever. I've said this a billion times already

Damn, that sucks and I thought Kitana was freed. Maybe her, Liu Kang and Kung Lao are using their human forms as disguises or something

screw all this story stuff. I wish theyd revert to the old games with minimal story, put 40-50 characters in and just let the story develop in the intro and the endings
