I think shinnok will return and go to outworld to onaga's palace and in the ruins where shujinko destroyed Onaga. shinnok finds his amulet and wants a war to take over every realm or to destroy Earthrealm.

Armageddon is not the end of the world. (Har Megido is a place, not an event)

Besides from where do you get the impression that it will have mass cataclysmic storylines? We don't even know that the domain registered will be the name of the product.
