Remember when this game was first announced there was talk that veterans would be 25 years older.
Kano does look a bit older but hardly 60 which is approximately how old he should be in MKX. Lao also has a grey-ish mustache. But then enter Johnny, Sonya and Liu ALL of whom look practically the same age as they did in MK9. I mean Johnny and Sonya literally look ten years older than their daughter......at best.

So I'm guessing you didn't see the screenshot of wrinkly Johnny. He ages just fine. Sonya, on the other hand, appears to barely age at all even in the farther future.

It starts two years after the defeat of shao kahn, we haven't seen enough story mode to make the judgement. Their main costumes may very well just be in their main portion of the timeline.

No one wants to see a bunch of old people ripping each other's heads.

Are you joking? I feel like they replaced Johnny Cage from MK9. I swear to god it's like that MK and MK annihilation movie type thing, they replaced the good and amazing actor from the first movie with an actor that had little to no lines.
I liked MK9 Johnny Cage a lot but this Johnny Cage doesn't even remind me of that Johnny Cage whether it's his big fucking prince charming chin or ugly ass bland design. Something about this Johnny Cage that's seriously wrong.
I like Johnny Cage but this is the worst he ever appeared, IMO.

I thought I seen gray hair on the sides of Johnny's hair in his gameplay. I might be wrong though

In general "age" seems to be graying hair and beards. The question is how far in the 25 year span are the characters? Sonya and Cage specifically are in their comic attire so I assume they're only about 10 years out so them aging somewhat minimally is kind of alright. If they show them 25 years later at the end of story mode and they still look like they've barely aged then it's a problem.
In general though the only character who really has questionable aging is Sonya. Apparently the Earthrealm's Jinsei has healing properties, maybe it gave her some kind of retarded aging process.

Well, first of, everybody ages differently. There are people who are lucky enough, when at 60, they still look like 40 years old.
And the Johnny Cage in the trailers, you don't know at which point in the story that is. And the first chapter of the story is not so long after MK9, so he wouldn't be that much older.
And really, what do you expect from 25 years older? Bad back? Walking with a cane? A lot of rimples? ...
The differences in the looks are subtleties.

Bruce Willis is 60 years old but has the looks of someone with 40.
Johnny looks old, but Sonya looks 40 at worst.
