just after everybody's thoughts, opinions and predictions for smoke is MKX. Personally I really like smoke he is my second favourite character and after finally seeing him as a (somewhat) fleshed out stand alone character in MK9 it was a real shame to see him die. I really hope he comes back in MKX as his own (human) character again and they embrace this enera angle eluded to in the last game but unfortunately I don't really see him making main game possibly DLC if he is lucky.
I kind of always group him and Noob together in the fact they are both old school secret characters who never really reached the popularity levels of scorpion and sub zero however absolutey have the potential too if given a proper chance. But I think seeing both of them in the game is not a possibility I believe it will be one or the other and given noob has a bit of better developed story already and his connections to shinnok and the netherrealm I see him making this game ahead of smoke but I always hope for smoke as DLC. I just really hope he doesn't get faded away like jade did.
What's everyone else's thoughts on the mysterious grey ninja?

Smoke was my number 1 in mk9. I would love to have him back. Something about his play style clicked with me.
I think his moveset offers countless possibilities for mkx next gen and variations.
his enenra story line seems like a good jumping off point.
All that being said I sadly don't see him returning until dlc. And even then, I think it will take more than 4 dlc character spots for him to make it. (my mind would change depending on the final roster count and who makes it on disc)

I don't see Smoke, Jade, Nightwolf, Kabal, or Stryker making it into the intial roster, but maybe as DLC.
I expect to see them show up as NPCs after Kitana sets out to rescue Jade or something like that.
They won't stay dead forever though, you know what series this is.

Smoke. Fleshed out. Even somewhat.
Did we play the same MK9?

Well they did give him a name, birthplace, Enenra origin, and finally gave him some unique moves and insight into his personality/character now that he wasn't immediately automated.

And yet he's always immediately remembered as the guy attached to Sub-Zero's hip.

You're right it was a pretty shit effort but still better then a scorpion clone or sektor clone or mindless lackey to Noob which is what we have seen from smoke in the past! I just really wish they would give him more of a chance he doesn't need to replace sub or scorpion as the mk icon ninja but he could complement them nicely given the chance
Smoke had no personality?
He came off to me as the more softer and sensitive type. A little on the meek side but very able to kick ass since he was able to best Shang Tsung as older Sub Zero who was rumored to be stonger than Smoke himself.
Looks like the type to really care for his looks, a bit effeminate, really really attached to the people he cares about, someone who's more in touch with his feelings.
Honestly, I really do hope he returns, I really liked smoke in MK9 my main favorite on the game.

He didn't come across as feminine to me, I just think he didn't care about chopping up his hair considering a lot of warriors don't. His outfits didn't seem too feminine either.
The only thing that people find sensitive was that he and Sub-Zero were homeboys and almost like brothers. In the old timeline Kui Liang was pretty upset about Smoke getting automated.
I'm not the biggest Smoke fan but the guy clearly got developed a bit more in MK9, that was sort of the point of them not automating him and throwing him into mystery immediately. We can jokingly poke fun at there not being much, but it was there and more than he ever had before.

His looks wasn't feminine, aside from his hairstyle.
But his personality came off to me as something that was a bit soft.
Which I'm glad for a male ninja to have such personality, I'm sick of having most ninjas act like brainless macho men that want to fight kill and destroy such as that one dimensional nitwit Scorpion and his small attention span.

Smoke should turn into a non playable sub-boss in MKX.

I always felt like that's what Kui-Liang and Smoke were. They always acted like they didn't fit in with their clan, and Kui Liang reformed the Lin Kuei into an Earthrealm protection force. Smoke, the poor bastard ended up getting completely automated. We all know Bi-Han was a dick aside from one moment of clarity when talking to Raiden, as Noob Saibot he was already past redemption, Reptile/Chameleon/Khameleon just kinda want their race back and follow orders, Scorpion was a dick in his old life too being an assassin, he just cared for his family and clan. Rain is an usurper, but Ermac was actually a good guy in the old timeline when he broke free of Kahn's control. Too bad that's thrown out the window.

He and Sub did have some cool dialogue. I really liked Smoke's chapter honestly, the only dumb thing he did was when he "mistook" Mileena for Kitana or whatever, but other than that I really enjoyed him. Like others have said, it showed that Sub and Smoke were really close.
I hope he's in MKX, his gameplay was phenomenal in MK9 albeit kind of broken. He's a really interesting character too story wise, i'm very interested to see what NRS comes up with for Smoke.
Personally i'm expecting him to be DLC but we'll see.

I really liked Ermac as a good guy, I'm hoping somewhere in mkx he will somehow be freed of his control.
