What everyone think smokes chances are for KP2? And who wants him for KP2?

I want him and think that his chances are good!

Sorry for posting another KP2 speculation post but I am so hyped for KP2 and can't wait for it to be announced my interest in MKX is waning and I am desperately holding out for a KP2 before I reluctantly shelve this game for a while.

I don't want any MK9 characters as MKX DLC. They can afford to sit a game out.

Holy hell, fans really get hung-up on characters being from MK9 and the Trilogy era.

If being from MK9 really increase a character's chances of returning in MKX, then that would mean Stryker and Sheeva are just as likely to end up as DLC as Shang Tsung and Noob Saibot. Yeah, right. Funny how all of the MK9 returnees were core characters like Kitana and Raiden, and there wasn't one underrated/underused character among them like Jade and oh yeah, Smoke.

So anyway, as for Smoke, he's a popular but underused character like Tanya, Tremor and Rain, so his chances of ending up as DLC are pretty good, imo. I'd also be satisfied if we did get him, though he's not exactly my first choice.

If we do get him, he needs to have a Cyborg alt with minor tweaks (like projectiles coming out of his chest), as well as a much more unique Revenant one.

I think he's very unlikely as he's a Faction Kill.

Don't want. I have nothing against Smoke, but there are returning characters I'd rather see well before him. I'd take Smoke once we get to like, Kombat Pack 4 or 5 (yeah right)... but right now I could pass.

I also don't want a Cyborg that converts the 3 MK3 Cyborgs into 3 variations. I don't want them to homogenize and merge the things that make the 3 characters unique, that just hurts them all. Why would we ever need Sektor back if Cyrax or Smoke can do anything he can?

I wouldn't say I don't want anyone from MK9. There are a few I'd take back. I'm fine with any of the Story Mode Cameos being playable, I frankly think they should have been playable from the get-go. I think making them playable would have been the difference between a good game and a perfect game for me.

As many have often said, what I really want is more characters from the MKDA-MKA era to return. Many of them (not all, but many) weren't half-bad characters, they were just never given a proper chance, imo.

Smoke? Well he's a Faction Kill already, so that's not a promising sign. As for whether I'd want him....they'd have to drastically change his moveset a bit to fit this game. We already have three teleport punchers and his warping teleport would make him totally independent of the stamina meter that all other characters rely on to either close the gap (via run) or backdash away from an opponent. He'd have to be heavily changed, and people who want him in may not quite realize that.

Also, this. People act like everyone from MK9 was in every single game made in the series. Nightwolf, Sindel, Jade, Kabal, Sheeva, Smoke, Sektor.....these characters could use more time on a roster. The real problem is THE SAME trilogy characters being used over and over again.

I don't understand why everyone thinks because he's a faction kill that NRS won't make him dlc. If they wanted to have him as dlc the faction kill would mean nothing. You wouldn't see two Smokes on screen or anything.

Smoke was my MK9 main but I don't really feel he needs to be DLC. There are too many other characters that haven't been playable since Armageddon. He can sit this one out and hopefully have a bigger role in MK11.

I want him. I really, really want him,but his chances of returning are nonexistent: Apart from him being a Faction Kill(it's still possible to work around this, mind you) there was once this response from Boon to a fan's tweet regarding Smoke's return(this was around June,IIRC,by the time Tanya was released) His answer? A picture of a graveyard.
Again, this is Boon we are talking about, but given how he answered,I would incline for Smoke being unlikely to return in MKX. NRS more than likely didn't felt like working on Smoke for this game, and I wouldn't be surprised they added that Faction Kill just to acknowledge how popular the character had become since MK9.
TL;DR: Want, Unlikely.

This. It's just too goofy looking to summon yourself.

I think he has a better shot at being in MK11, honestly.

True. Cyrax after all wasn't playable in UMK3/MKT, since he was stuck in Jade's desert. Oh wait...

Not only was he playable, he could fight himself in Jade's desert, with a third Cyrax in the background.

Oh yeah, fight himself. You know, in one of these mirror matches we've had since the first game. But I guess Smoke summoning himself would be taking unrealism way too far.

Yes, in a game where you blow up with 10 bodies worth of bones. Times have changed. Mirror matches are one thing. Summoning a clone of yourself for a fatality is just bizarre. They knew going in he wouldn't be DLC, that's why he's used as a Faction Kill cameo.

While you have a point, modifiers and fatalities can both be used in some towers so there is a chance of smoke vs. Smoke with a smoke modifier and another smoke coming in to finish smoke off. While similar rediculousness has happened before there is a question of whether or not it should be present in modern mk.

I just don't think in a modern MK game they're going to have Smoke tell Smoke to kill the opponent.

The opponent that could also be Smoke.

Just where are people getting this impression that MK has gotten oh so serious?

Are MKX's X-rays that much more serious than the multiple heads, limbs and bones in the MK3 era's fatalities? What about Johnny's mime alt? What about Cassie's fatalities and alt? Or an old woman and a monk being throwable items?

Anyway, the goofiness of Smoke summoning himself to kill himself has actually given me an extra reason to want him as DLC. People really need to get a sense of humor.

The faction kill means nothing. You would never see two Smokes on screen at the same time or anything. They could easily just edit his stance when you use the faction kill to make him walk toward the opponent instead of turning around. They might not want to do Smoke for this game but it has nothing do with a fucking faction kill.
I vote for Smoke

You really think so? lol Alright. He still won't be in though. They obviously knew this from the get-go hence his cameo. Also, no reason to get an attitude over an opinion, that's just silly.

I really think a faction kill would mean nothing to them if they wanted to put him in as dlc, yes. I wasn't trying to have an attitude, but it's funny for you to say to not have an attitude over an opinion, considering you made a thread and a petition against people wanting Khrome.

First off, I created that petition as a response to one specific individual who's virtually harassing me, not over a difference of opinion over something as stupid as a character being used or not being used. I can care less who wants what character but when I start getting threatening messages from said user and seeing 30+ tweets an hour on my account being tweeted at me from multiple accounts all saying the exact same thing "Our Future Champion awaits! Kant wait to play him!" with a link to his stupid petition, then I have a problem.

Secondly, it's funny you bring this up in a topic that has nothing to do with anything relating to this issue as a means of just trying to press my buttons to get some sort of knee-jerk reaction because I *gasp* disagree with you. So no, that's not really funny or accurate. If you're gonna bring it up as a way of trying to "knock me" then at least have your facts straight first. Or better yet, do it in a PM that way you don't derail the entire conversation.

Now, can we please stay on topic? As for Smoke, if they had ANY plans what-so-ever to use him as post-launch DLC, I highly doubt they would've given him such a cameo so no, I don't think he'll be in. Yes, I'd bet a good chunk of money of it. And yes, I think just like with Jade and Tsung, he's being saved for a future sequel.
