Should They Show Fatalities
Should They Show Fatalities
You know, as much as I love seeing fatalities... I kinda don't really want too many of them to be revealed. It's kind of like how they sorta don't want to reveal Scorpion's full fatality or Cassie's x-ray. Do they really need to showcase fatalities? I mean, granted that there's most likely going to be two of them for each character, have one revealed while the other doesn't, still, it sorta just kinda disappoints me a little when a fatality needs to be revealed.
Now, don't get me wrong, I don't mind it, but every character that gets revealed doesn't need to have their fatality revealed as well. Does anyone agree or do you guys prefer they reveal the fatalities?

It's mostly just a marketing ploy IMO, you have to build hype around a character somehow especially if they are new to the series. At the end of the day it's simply up to you if you want to spoil it for yourself or if you want to go into MKX blind as Kenshi . Though for me personally being an MK fan since it's creation Fatalities don't really have much of a shock factor to them anymore, but as the tech advances they can show off new and creative ways to mutilate, dissect and torture. For some Fatalities are a huge selling point for the franchise. Lately it's been tradition to build hype via Fatalities so expect this trend to continue.

I don't really mind fatalities being shown, but I hope they only show one and the let the others be a surprise.
Maybe down the road we will get official character announcements like Injustice and they'll tease fatalities.

Well I agree with Icebaby and would rather that they didn't show them. It kinda spoils it for me. And yeah I can just "simply" cut the video before they show it, but I'm an MK fan who wants to see the action unfold as well before the games release, so stumbling into a few fatalities is kind of inevitable.
I'd say save it for the actual release of t the game. It's better NOT knowing what's going to happen than already knowing because you've seen it before so you're like "oh here we go." The unknown has far more shock value.
There's a reason Ed Boon refuses to reveal Scorpion's fatality. Look how bad we wanna see it now.

No.
Only show characters, and maybe 1 more fatality in the end of the wait.
Think about how MUCH fatalities we'll be suprised by :D :D :D

Pretty much this.
Fatalities are MK's legacy and the reason it's still around today. I'm fine with showing one of a character's fatalities, just not both.

Seeing has how they're planning to have something like 5 for each char, having one fatality per character revealed isn't over-spoiling the fans. But i would love for most of the characters fatalities to remain secret until the game is released.
I remember being able to do a fatality used to be some reward. And now, we don't even need to search the net to find the input controls, they're all handed to us on a plate.:(

Please excuse my grammar. Yeah, that could be a big bold rumor but while we wait:

No it's not. Every MK9 character trailer gave away when a Fatality is being performed.

Ideally they should do a little fatality montage trailer every now and again, whilst scarring journalists for life.
Giving the public an idea of what they look like whilst not spoiling them completely.

I liked it in the old days that it was so mystic to know how to perform or see a fatality, atleast it was for me. I was always hoping that the CPU did a fatality on me to see it So i understand where this is coming from.
Maybe an idea to have secret fatality animations? like character VS specific that occur random?

I also agree!
I have not been a fan of Scorpion, but, this time around he is catching my attention in a way.

Oh really? Well first of all this is MKX not MK9. Second, have you been watching MKX gameplay videos like I have? In some of them after a match between 2 fighters (let's say Kotal Khan and Cassie Cage) is over and they DO show a fatality, guess what, the video doesn't end. There's ANOTHER match after that between Scorpion and Ferra/Torr.
Now you're asking me to cut the video so I can miss another match showcasing more gameplay for a game that I really want to get my hands on? I don't think so. Sure I could not watch gameplay videos to save myself from being spoiled but like I said before, I too want to see all of the action (the reveals and the hype) unfold before launch. I'm just as excited as everyone else is. I would just prefer if they didn't show fatalities or at least tease us like they did with Scorpion.
Again more shock value. Doesn't anybody like the pleasant surprise of a finisher happening before your eyes AS you're playing the game and seeing it for the FIRST time? What's the fun in already knowing what's going to happen? It's like watching a movie and already knowing the ending.

Even if I did abstain and refused to watch a single fatality before the MKX's release, it wouldn't heighten the experience for me. Fatalities aren't something I enjoy doing in the game itself (they could be enjoyable, but that's a different topic); pretty much since MKD, a fatality's sole purpose is to entertain me before the game comes out.
Back in the day, seeing fatalities came at a price. You had to either know how to do them, or fight someone who did, and if neither of those scenarios were the case, then you just didn't see them (and even if that was the case, you still had to LEAVE YOUR HOUSE to do so; that can be a big obstacle). That's why it was so awesome when you saw them. These days, I really just enjoy them for analysis, which is something I do on the forums as oppose to while I'm playing the game.
But honestly, I don't feel strongly either way. If they didn't show any more fatalities before release, I wouldn't count it as a huge loss. The character reveals are really where my heart is at.
