He can stay dead for this game, I'd like a sub plot of power struggle in Outworld or maybe someone Loyal like Reiko desperately trying to resurrect him, maybe giving us an explanation of his Hatred for Quan Chi.

It was great to see him in the reboot!

but i can do without him this time round. especially if its to do with story mode.

Agreed... he's been the final boss in 3 games now and has appeared in more... its time for him to leave the series for a while so we can fully move on to some new baddies... ALTHOUGH I have a feeling that undead Shao Kahn will be the sub-boss of this game, brought back by Quan Chi..

As much as I like Shao Kahn I wouldn't mind if he sat this one out. I'd rather he had a dramatic return in a future game.

But this apples to most of the cast, and there are only a few characters that have progressed over the years, really.

Scorpion, Sonya, Kitana, Kung Lao, Reptile, Baraka, Sheeva, etc have been the same for at least 15 years or more, o i don't think it's the characters' fault but rather NRS' inability to truly develope charcaters.

Like others have said, I think he needs to sit this one out. Possibly the next few MKs too. A few characters do really.

Kahn should be back, one way or the other. It doesn't have to be as the final boss. The ending in MK9 did in no way state that he is 100% dead. He could be a prisoner of the Elder Gods and break free or something in that direction. Some people here are taking character deaths way too serious anyway.
