let me first off say i do not agree neither disagree with this, i am a neutral party in terms of it, i am a mk fan regardless.
this idea came to me after having a dream, i played dbz budokai 3 before i went to sleep one time and was on the mko forums and i guess the 2 mixed.
given the way the animation style is in the dbz games, i immagine a mortal kombat game with that kind of animation, or a new approach alltogether.
just immagining it kinda brings back the 2d immages from my memory. i think it would be good, but im not supporting the idea.
just wondering, immagine characters appearance, artwork, moves, gameplay, representation and give me feedback on this.
thanks

You mean like....a cell-shaded MK game?

If you are talking about Cell-Shaded MK then i must respectfully say i would hate that. Personally i think the past three games have looked far to cartoonish. To me MK needs to take a more realistic, brutal approach. A look to where it can shock us again like it used to. A look and feel that would both disgust and amaze you at the same time.
And if your talking about the move animations themselves, i dont care what they do because almost anything would be an improvment over the previous games. Personally i think they should follow Tekkens mold, not saying gameplay like Tekken because i think MK needs to be something of its own, but i mean in terms of the fluidity, smoothness, and responsivness of the moves in Tekken.

If MK's graphics were ever cel-shaded, comic book like or cartoony it would ruin the last shred of dignity the series actually has. MK's graphics need to improve in the realistic sense to the point where everything we see can be believable. We need to see more realistic backgrounds, character models, blood etc. You can have the fluidity, good animations etc with realistic graphics - see Tekken, Soul Calibur and the rest.
MK is supposed to be a serious fighting game regardless of the messes that have been the last few games. You'd be taking a huge step back making it look anything like DBZ. As a serious fighter, you need the world the game is set in to be presented in a serious (real) way visually. Cartoony graphics aren't that way and if MK ever had those sort of graphics, it'd probably be the death of the series.

I think MK's taking a bit way too much heat of late, I'd say it still has tons of fight left and going into an 8th installment is a fact everyone should respect regardless since the fans, fighter fans still buy the games.
But honestly, DBZ isn't even in the same league as MK or other fighters honestly...
The only really good DBZ game that was pretty good was the DBZ GT for PSX.
I do want air kombat(not jump kicking or good jumping) air kombat out in MK8 however..

i personally feel that mk's imagry other than the renders is absolutely horrible. an animation change would never kill it, cuz its already bad.
im not a big unreal engine expert and im not sure what it can produce. with this coming game. could anybody give me other unreal engine pics so i know what its capable of?
thanks

I don't know.. cell shading never really was one of my favorite looks in games. it looks lame and cartoony in my opinion.

i dunno,it might actually be ok. just because it looks cartoony doesnt mean it wouldnt be dark and serious...look how graphic some of the top anime titles are now days. people just fear changes like that will make it suck...how would you know if ya didnt try it?
anyways,i dont think i would like it much either but i own the dbz games and enjoy them so its possible i could enjoy a cell shaded mk. i would much rather it revert to old school 2d than cell shaded but if it came down to it i would still buy it just because its mk.
