This has really been bothering me, I know the game is still in development and they will hopefully change this in the final product but I just don't see it. Torr ehhhh maybe but definitely not Kotal Kahn. It just doesn't fit his stature, not to mention the fact that these guys don't strike me as acrobats being that they are huge!
So what do you guys think? Should big brutes like those two swing from tree branches? Or should they have their own special moves when using the environment? For that matter, should smaller characters like Cassie Cage be able to throw bodies without any effort? I would love it if they were more realistic about these things, they're already on the right track with the intros.

How is Torr the maybe? He's BIGGER than Kotal Khan. If anything Kotal should swing from a branch while Torr shouldn't. His fatass would probably break the branch.

Kotal should work like the others. Torr as it is too large, but there Ferra for these cases. And want to know if you can use a sword like the trailer (as in MK4), you fight with her to get a hit (and adds 4 more combos).

Lol you're right man. I said maybe for Torr though because to me his stance is "Gorrilla like" know what I mean?

The idea of environmental interactions in this game was simply because of that Injustice game. Which included different sized characters performing different animations when interacting with something.
Most of the average size characters would super jump off of objects to the middle of the screen (sounds familiar?), while big characters would throw the object.

Really hoping this is the case for MKX too. One tiny thing that bugged me in MK9 was that all the characters were roughly the same size other than Goro/Kintaro. Jax should be huge, Sektor should be a tank, Reptile and Cyrax should be smaller but super quick, etc. It just adds to the game. And not all females should be smaller and super quick, if a character is super strong (like Sindel was suppose to be) let her character model be small but let her toss shit like its no problem.

Great topic.
I'm sure the interactions will be mapped out like Injustice. I can see Torr and Kotal ripping out the tree from the ground and throwing it at their opponent lol. On the other hand, since Torr has Ferra, I think she will be the one to swing on the branch.

I do want the bigger characters to have different interactables than the smaller ones. Maybe instead of swinging from the branch he breaks it in mid air and does a air strike with it as a weapon.

I really hope they make subby freeze the branch like in the reveal trailer. It would change the damage or effect or anything but it would be aesthetically pleasing.

That will be there, he won't lose it whatsoever.

The thing is, some forget that gameplay plays a big role even in MK. With the FGC what it is today, NRS is forced to take gamplay at least as serious as other aspects such as story. So if you decide its more important to take interactable actions away from Torr because he's too big, you deny him gameplay capabilities, unless you make it so that he has different interactables specifically tailored for him and other big characters, because then you balance it out and give them something in return. I don't see this happening though as it complicates things.
By that logic, Akuma should have no recovery or startup on any normals or specials, do tons of damage with any move, and his stamina bar should be something like 5000 because in the SF storyline there are very few characters who stand a chance against him. In reality, he has 850 stamina (weakest of all with the exception of Seth) and is on par with many characters where damage output is concerned. Why? Because gameplay is simply way more important to SF than what Akuma is really capable of, storywise

Well if they did variations that made sense in Injustice, they can certainly do it here. Some people may feel that this is a minor detail but I feel that all details big or small count and would make the game all the more better.
Some of you mentioned the fact that Torr has Ferra which makes sense but what about the variation with just Torr?
Characters that should swing from anything:
Scorpion
Sub-Zero
Raiden? (not sure if that's his style)
D'Vorah
Ferra
Cassie Cage
No Swinging:
Kotal Kahn
Torr

He sure did
Bigger characters should do something different. I'm trying to remember the N64 game, Xena Warrior Princess: Talisman of Fate, they have everyone able to jump on the walls, but their biggest character, Despair, I believe he too was able to, and I thought it was a bit goofy for him to do that since he can literally take up one half of the screen if you're playing on a smaller arena. Why jump on a wall when you're that huge of a character?
I feel that the larger characters should have something else to do rather than doing all these acrobatic moves that makes them look like they can move way faster than they do when just walking/running.

Someone mentioned that he can possibly rip the tree out of the ground and throw it at his opponent. He can also bash them over the head with the tree (a la Injustice with the missile).
I don't think they should but most likely due to game mechanics they will.
But i think it would be funny if the branch broke when they used it lol.
what about the other interactive environment stuff. The Cove, the beam u can jump on or Outworld Market Cabana were they jump on.

@Icebaby
Agreed. I don't think that all characters should just use their surroundings in the same way just because "its the fighting mechanic for the game". If NRS is really going to be creative with MKX then they should go all the way.
@DarkenedSoul
Yeah I saw that, those are great ideas. Torr should definitely be able to pull whole trees from the ground and launch them at his opponent. Another issue I believe someone mentioned though was balance, which is a good point because you gotta wonder how much damage a tree coming at you full force would do.
@jdnice11
That would be funny lol. And yes The Cove and all of the other stages count as well. Can't really see Kotal Kahn swinging from that chain either. Just seems out of place.
