I was wondering with the popularity from Killer Instinct, Would you like the type of shadow moves in MK. I mean how they last and look. This would only be for certain characters/certain specials in MK for example.

like

Johnny Cage Shadow Kick, Shadow Punch.

Jade's Shadow Kick

Noob Saibot because his moves are mostly shadows.

Few Smoke's moves that involve his smoke. It would replace shadow effect with a fog like effect.

Square Wave Punch and etc.

Yes/No. Would you like something like this in MK or would be no im fine with things they are. Don't care etc. Discuss.

Edit: I totally missed the point of the thread. Ahem, yes, I do want the shadows to come back for several moves with characters. There shouldn't be any reason to not have certain moves not to create a shadow when they have been in the past. I've always enjoyed the shadows chasing Johnny in his moves. Let's see them again.

I remember Liu Kang had a shadow bicycle kick in MKT!

I think characters who already have "shadow" moves like Johnny, Nightwolf, Jade, and Shao Kahn should be the only ones who have them. The green afterimages is a specific kind of superpower related to spirit/soul-energy they use or something. It's like Liu Kang and Scorpion having fire, Sub-Zero having ice, and Raiden having lightning, it wouldn't make any sense to change what people's powers are.

But I desperately want the games to go back to having ACTUAL afterimages in those moves instead of just making Johnny glow. I can't believe the Shadow Kick didn't actually have a trail of shadows in MK9. I mean, in DA and Deception, I kinda understand, they had graphical limitations, they hadn't figured out how to do it...but one of Sareena's moves in Armageddon had shadows, so now there should be no excuse!
If you mean should MK just have some kind of power up for each character, though, and it could look like shadows for some characters or being covered in fire or energy or something else for other characters, I'd be cool with that, but I'd rather they get something that works like the Traits in Injustice instead. I really like how it's different and customized for each character in that game, where some get glowing armor, some pull out or change a weapon, etc. and think that could work really well for MK. Like, Liu Kang could become covered in fire and do extra damage, but Raiden would pull out his staff, while Sindel would switch between being on the ground or flying, etc.

Another example is how the SF Alpha games when you perform supers and such you see that shadow clone effect. That gives you more hits. That what I mean. Just like the new Killer Instinct is. Also give more damage to other moves and etc.

But your kind of right how the past MK games had that afterimage effect instead of glowing effect. But the after image effect would do more damage and have extra hits, unique properties, etc.

And it was gay...

No more shadow moves is my vote. Keep what already has been established, but no one else needs them.

Thank you, for brightening my day.

I agree though. Why does everyone need them? Let's keep the individualization going, NRS. I do like the idea of changing glow into shadows for Johnny during, say, the EX version of the move?

Naw, it should always be shadows because it's CALLED the god damned "Shadow Kick". Not having shadows when Shadow is in the name is just plain dumb.

The EX version just needs to be red instead of green because that's how Johnny's moves have worked since MK2, Red = more powerful.

Ya mean like in Tekken, the characters do some "power-up". A "ki charge" for their moves/techniques.

You mean like for the MK characters to power up like...
ex.
Liu Kang - Fire
Rain - water
Raiden - lightning
Fujin - wind
Tremor - earth

Even those that wield energy?

I'd like to see Cage's afterimage return to his shadow kick like everyone else. I wasn't to happy when it was gone, I just always wanted them to improve it. As for everyone having shadow moves kind of like the aggressor in MKT, no. Soul Energy explanations aside, it's iconic for those characters to use. There are a variety of other effects that could be used for what you want such as particle effects, motion blur and as mentioned before, something that ties into that players powers. I think with the variety we tasted with MK2011 after years of games with pallet swaps, shared animations and moves, giving everyone the same graphic effect would be more of a step backwards then forwards.
