Nobody else probably cares but here's a call out to all the Scorpion fans on the forum. We have seen no evidence of Scorpion having his classic Airthrow move. In fact I've seen more evidence to the contrary. Does anybody else feel like it's one of his best tools and shouldn't be left out? As much as like the Leg Takedown I would still rather the Airthrow over it. I mean I'll be greedy and take both. After his long history of tier-mediocrity to outright sucking I would be happy to see him get as many tools as possible this time around.
On that note can I see some Airthrow support from my fellow Scorpion fans? Twitter petitions that will probably be fruitless constantly bugging Boon about the classic Scorpion move? lol. They gave him Noob's summoning ability, give him the Izuna Drop style suplex thing as an airthrow now! (Actually I've just really wanted to see him do a spinning izuna drop type airthrow forever... every other classic ninja has it, lol).

What evidence is there on the contrary? It is a very situational move since both characters have to be in the air so I do not think it would get shown a lot. In the last game he had both the air throw and leg taken down. I do not see any reason why it should not return.
As for tiers nobody knows and they only apply for high level play so for most people it is not relevant. From what I heard Scorpion is a very strong character and was the most damaging character in the GamesCom build of the game. In my opinion the ability to cancel the teleport is one of the biggest buffs Scorpion has seen.

Who knows? We all only saw 1 variation each from the first 6 unveiled characters in play, if that. Raiden and Kano were the only two that got proper variation reveals.
So, Scorpion could have his air throw and leg take-down in one of his variations that we have not seen.

From the looks of it, Kano lost his air throw as well. They could've showcased it in his trailer if he had it, since it's not a universal trait.

I'd prefer his air Tomoe Nage from MK2 personally..give him the Izuna Drop style suplex thing as an airthrow now! (Actually I've just really wanted to see him do a spinning izuna drop type airthrow forever... every other classic ninja has it, lol).

The leg takedown is universal across all variations along with the spear and teleport.

The one breakdown of stuff they sent out (I can't find it now) listed his universal moves as spear, leg takedown, and teleport (no mention of airthrow) and his variations add Sword based normals (ninjitsu), fireball/demon fire/fire aura (hellfire), and the summon demons (inferno). So no mention thus far.

Then he doesn't have it, I guess. No big loss really, since Kano doesn't have his either thus far.

I can confirm no air throw for Scorpion from my play session. Unless Ninjitsu has it (didn't get to use that one), then it's gone.

Good question. I honestly have no idea. I really hope he retains it in MKX though, I don't see why they would strip him of that technique now.

I think Scorpion's Air throw is a great move and would love to see it return. Also he should be the only character who has that move, never liked it when he shared his moves *cough*smoke*cough.
Honestly I think every returning character should have every move they've ever had in the series. Unless of course it was a ridiculous move to begin with like Quan Chi's slide in MK4. There are 3 variations for each fighter, so every move should be present in some form or fashion right?

What "classic" air throw? The only game i remember him having an air throw is MK9.

In MK2,UMK3/MKT and MK4 when you jump up in the air with your opponent using Scorpion and hit "block", Scorpion throws his opponent to the ground.

Does not look like it. The returning characters have mostly got their classic moves in all variations and new special moves particular to the variation they are using.

Well the gameplay still looks incredible either way, the few people on here who had a chance to play didn't complain so I'm not worried. Still would have liked to see the air throw return though.

Oh yeah he still looks amazing and I'm gonna have a blast with this game (hopefully) either way but I will GREATLY miss his airthrow as I used it very effectively in every MK he's had it in which is actually most of them.
@Casselman Would you be able to tell me how his teleport kick functions compared to other iterations of the attack? Is it reliable like UMK3 or MK9 or is it gimped and whiffs a ton like in MKvsDCU? Also it looked in some videos to me like it might hit like an overhead (must block high, if crouching will hit anyway) but without the bounce. Thanks in advance.

As far as I am aware, It's not an overhead. I'd call it a mixture of MK3 and MK9's teleports. There is something that I am not getting, though. Whether or not Scorpion actually teleports to the other side of the character is dependant on something other than spacing.
In UMK3, If you had a lot of screen behind you and there was no wall, you would glide back. I've seen and done this in MKX but it had nothing to do with spacing. I've teleported during block pressure with a ton of space behind me and I still ended up attack them from the other side. Then some times with little space, I wouldn't switch sides. Instead, it was the "back glide".
Weird. I tried different button combinations but I couldn't figure it out with my limited time. There is something there to be known. His X-ray can be altered by holding back, though. Instead of flying right at them, Scorpion teleports and hits them from behind with the Xray.

Freakin' sweet on the x-ray. My friend cringed when I read that to him as my Scorpion in MK9 is good enough to cause him MUCH butthurt when we play, lol. I'm hoping his teleport does indeed have some CONTROLLABLE options as far as where you appear goes as I wanted this badly in MK9. If it is uncontrolled then well the teleport becomes less reliable and leads to yet more gratuitous punishment for using it, lol. Ah Scorpion how I long for you to be slightly more safe and dare I say it... tournament viable?

One should not worry if Scorpion doesn't have his air throw. Y'all can use Cassie instead as she has an awesome air throw

Cassie is cool and I will probably use her but I prefer Hollowood more then Brawler.
Anyway, we are Scorpion fans and we want Scorpion to have an air throw. He is our favourite. This game is over 6 months from release so much can change and they can hopefully add an air throw to Scorpion. If not, oh well like other have already said Scorpion looks and plays amazing in MKX.

There is no doubt there, I agree.
