inspired, original

Those are certainly words I'd use to describe something you can see in three games and two movies.

Yeap, there's the referencing characters to porn stars. Who didn't see that coming?

I'm a reptile fan, and I really think you ought to try to be a little more respectful of other people's work. Say what you will about Razor, but the quality of his artwork is undeniable.

Rather than act like it isn't all that, you might change your tune and ask him for artistic advice. That's one way people grow; learning from someone with more experience and skill.

Not saying your artwork is bad, bro. Just needs some improvement, and Razor could probably provide you with tips. smile

And, yeah, you should probably knock off the third-person stuff...kind of weird and all...

Razor said KId NOVA's art was "crude". So who is the disrespectful one? Kid NOVA already asked Razor to draw a better version of his concept. And Kid NOVA speaks in third person because he has to. Accept him for who he is.

That's criticism. Sorry you can't handle it from people.

What do you think about this one's human reptile?

"Crude" isn't an insult, it's a description.

In other news, you folks ever seen the old TV commercials for MK2? Something about this whole "human Reptile" discussion reminded me of it...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQPVXieawgE

It's kinda neat to see A) live-action footage that looks both more accurate AND higher budget than both the movies and Legacy, and B) it looks like they came up with the idea, like 15 years ahead of time, for Scorpion's bone-mask from MKvsDCU

How is that criticism? That is basically saying that Kid NOVA's artwork is shit. Thats disrespectful. He could have said that Kid NOVA needed more work on the robes, on the coloring, the shading, etc. but calling it crude?

I doubt you would have accepted posts like that if people said that. I sorta did and you just whipped out excuses that you didn't have time to finish it. So...?

You people need to think deep.

Just because Kid NOVA doesn't have the skills to color and paint doesn't mean his art is bad.

Perhaps if Kid NOVA had coloring/painting skills and the human reptile concept was done using digital art, y'all will be praising him but that is not what Kid NOVA cares about. Kid NOVA's art isn't a summer blockbuster like transformers with no inspiration and million dollar budget CGI. His art is inspired & original. Look at the details. Look at the armor. Look at the robes. The inspiration is deep.

Yes, icebabe. Kid NOVA didn't have time to finish it and he also couldn't find his color pencils. Besides, Kid NOVA drew this concept in 30 mins. The inspiration is what counts. The thoughts and ideas placed into his reptile. Its masterful.

Learning to draw takes years of practice. He's about where I was when I was, like, 14.

And I got better by tracing other people's art for years. What helped the most though was as an adult, taking a semester of actual life-drawing classes, y'know, where a real live model gets naked and stands in front of a college classroom doing poses and you draw them over and over and over again, to learn anatomy.

Then you need to specifically practice the shape of hands/fingers, feet, and facial features because those are the three hardest parts of a person to get right.

Then you need a damn scanner. A copy of Adobe Photoshop to clean things up or color them helps too.

Don't call me that. Why bother post a non finished piece then? All you'll get are comments like this. As an artist myself, I wouldn't submit a piece unless it's finished and I would gladly accept any kind of criticism. You, however, have been very arrogant and whine when someone had the decency to input any kind of criticism to you. There's no need to whip out the excuses because then it's like, why bother to point out what's wrong with it?

And if this is really nothing but an act of trolling, then fuck.

Kid NOVA is expressing his human reptile ideas as hard as he can with the limited drawing skills he has. Now, he just needs someone to do a better job of it.

I haven't seen your reptile yet, but i'm interested. From what you are saying is the drawing is a rough draft concept, but not a finalized version of your drawing right? If thats the case you might have wanted to have mentioned that it was a quick mock up, otherwise we will assume this is a finalized piece.

See, there's a level of artistic skill where constructive criticism from someone like me can help a person get better, and there's a level where it's "I'm not an artist, I just like to doodle, what do you think of this?" and normally I try not to criticize those people because it'll always sound like I'm being too harsh or they can't use my advice because it's way too advanced for where they're at.

But in this case, it just bothered me that the dude A) was posting this for the SECOND time after it had already been in a different thread, B) The topic title is a fucking lying trap to lure people in, and C) The talking in the 3rd person thing is some silly shit.

Eh, yeah, Razor could have probably used a kinder term to refer to your work.

But then again, he may have been pissed that you used a VERY misleading title for this thread. And when he saw that this thread wasn't, in fact, a link to an official character reveal, well, yeah, I'd be a little miffed too. Probably thought you were a troll...and it doesn't help that you behave like one to a certain extent.

It also didn't help when you immediately attacked Jaded-Raven's character preference when she (he?) responded to you.

In the end, this is just fan-art that you've posted, and it doesn't belong in the MKX forum. Submit it as a fan submission and go from there.

*shrug*

Don't know what else to tell ya.

/thread.

Perhaps you shouldnt have called it crude.

And kid nova mentioned many times that he speaks this way. he is who he is and you cannot change him. Besides, Kid NOVA's feelings are hurt. You guys make fun of the way he talks. he hopes that you guys don't make fun of handicap people or people of different skin colors.
