Great now let's take a little break from speculating and think about how breathtaking the graphics are going to be during cutscenes in story mode! We MK fans deserve it! We've been in this since the NES days and had to go through those cringe worthy cutscenes in MK4. It's about time!
I dunno, I'd say a lot of the cut scenes in MK9 were pretty damn cringe worthy as well. Stupid dialog with awkward pacing is gonna be cringy no matter how new and shiny it is. Remember the fight scene between Jax and Johnny Cage in MK9 story mode? I fuckin do. Not to rain on your parade though, I am excited as well. I just know not to have my hopes sky high for a story mode written by chimpanzee's that don't really care about good story telling as much as why they're in a strange room being forced to press buttons on machines they don't understand. How they must long to return to the jungle, that poor MK writing staff.

Like previous games, cutscenes will be in engine. Not CG FMV.
I thought the MK4 endings were pretty good for its time, then again I was like 10. Anyway, I doubt the storymode cutscenes are going to be commercial quality CGI, but with pre-rendered scenes from the ingame normal graphics it should look outstanding nonetheless.

I am obsessed with the dark, snow forest trailer and that FLAWLESS select screen they have going on for MKX!!!!
I am not ready to see it all in high-definition, on the television screen. NOT READY.
*Maria_Linda shakes her head*
It's going to be a majestic game.
Speaking of MK4.... the cutsecnes were not cringe-inducing whatsoever, at the time! I thought they were great! Tanya's ending is the best and most funny, in that game. MK4 is really cute, now, in 2014!

Man that kind of sucks. Was really hoping that all of the cut scenes in the story mode would look just like the trailer. I know that it will still look decent regardless but with that trailer, they really set the bar for what MK can look like you know? They have seriously spoiled us with that. Guess it's too much to ask for.

NRS didn't make the trailer anyway, it was made by someone else.
As for the cutscenes from the current in game engine, I'm fairly confident they'll look great. As long as they don't have MK9 teeth I'm happy.

NRS has to pay other people to make trailers for them? Or was that someone provided by WB? What, NRS is not capable of making beautiful trailers themselves? I guess I really don't understand what goes on behind the scenes.

MK9 teeth? I guess I was too busy checking out the backgrounds of scenes and crowds for cameos and such, never noticed their teeth.

One scene I remember in particular is when Shao kills KL and Liu Kang tackles Kahn. When Liu says "You will taste your own blood" you can see how poorly animated the teeth are. Like I get it, teeth are not the most important thing. But if you're going to show them in a cutscene, at least make them presentable.

Sadly, they were not.
What baffled me is that the game itself only took up 26 Megabytes without music and cutscenes. How did they manage to screw that up? Westwood had the same amount of filmed LIVE ACTION cutscenes and those took less space up.
That game was a theatrical screw-up programming-wise. At least the PC version was, and that was the highest quality.
