Not by fans, no, but the amount of tweets I see a day, all by different people, requesting the NPC's be released as playable characters is staggering. I've seen thousands since April, no joke.

Absolutely! If you just looked around these forums you'd think no one gave 2 shits about the NPC's, but there's a crazy amount of demand for them elsewhere.

Li Mei finds kombat honorable and likely tried to fight Mileenas forces off but she was too strong with the amulet. She said they way Mileena used the amulet was not kombat and wasn't honorable. She is most definitely a fighter and one of the writers said "why wouldn't she be?"

The likeliest DLCs to me are divided like this:

Core characters

Shang Tsung
Noob Saibot
Shao Kahn
Baraka

Popular but underused characters

Sareena
Smoke
Rain
Fujin
Kabal
Reiko
Havik
Maybe Jade, Sindel and Nightwolf.

With both Cyborgs in-between these two groups, imo. They're not underused, but I'm not sure they're core characters, either. Either way, both Cyborgs' chances are pretty good, especially since the Predator wasn't an hybrid of them as many expected.

Underused characters NRS seems to like:

Li Mei
Bo Rai Cho
I think Nightwolf also belongs on this list.

I'm not sure who else to add on the third list. I thought NRS liked Frost, but apparently not, according to several people in this thread. I get the impression they like Daegon enough to add him, but again, I'm not sure. I feel tempted to add Sheeva and Skarlet because of their upgraded comic designs, but these two seem very unlikely.

And the final list: guests. After Jason and the Predator, the most rumored guests were Ash, Spawn, and Tom Hardy's Mad Max.

I hate that two of my favorite characters, Ashrah and Nitara, are so neglected by NRS and will probably never return

How in the world are they "neglected"? Because they've only been in one game not counting Armageddon?

You're kidding yourself if you think Li Mei would have fought Mileena while she was losing control of the amulet during the war against Kotal's forces.

Li Mei is a fighter. She's not crazy. The village ran away and Li Mei explained what we see saw, looking for help in Earthrealm. She didn't go back to stay with her fellow villagers.

And Shang Tsung won't be DLC. No way in hell. They're leaving him for next game. A shoehorned Shang Tsung after being hinted at a few times would break the momentum of his return.

I wish there was a higher demand for Cyrax, MK doesn't sit right with me unless we get a cyborg. Hell I'd be fine if his variations were Sektor/cyber Smokes movesets. But I digress.

Rain I could see, maybe give him a scimitar or a trident. Maybe have a fatality where he crushes you with his water bubble's extreme pressure, then toss it into the air so the area rains blood.

Noob I have no idea what his moveset would be given that they passed it to Johnny, but another MIA character worth considering.

Fuijin is a given.

Skarlet would be my choice of female but fat chance of that happening

Kinda, and a lot characters have had cameos in mkx or in the comic or even mentioned by Boon in a tweet but they haven't even been referenced to at all in almost 10 years (as far as I know)

That doesn't mean they're "neglected" at all. Honestly, what purpose would Nitara or Ashrah have given the story we have with X? Granted that they could easily be re-written into the story and scratch what they were before, them not having cameos in either the comic or the game doesn't mean they're "neglected."

They have over sixty characters in this franchise, not everyone is going to be selected to come about whether that role is huge or small.

I don't know Liu Kang & Kitana run Hell now along with Stryker, Kabal, Jade?, Sindel, Nightwolf, Smoke and Kung Lao. Not to mention the possibility of Noob Saibot still being around up to no good.

There's still room for Ashrah and Sareena to do stuff comic or gamewise for MK11

Not only did the developers said on twitter that Li Mei IS a fighter, but also in the game she is seen talking about honor in kombat and shit. Would a non-fighter ever do it?

They can give her all the backstory they want on Twitter. But that doesn't tell me anything. A person in the hands of the military telling them everything about an army coming in and destroying the village. Li Mei during Deadly Alliance would have fought them seeing how she bravely went against the Deadly Alliance went they enslaved her village. What's different now? Why isn't she fighting? If she's a "fighter" why didn't she stay back and defend her village instead of crying in the hands of the Special Forces?

They also said on Twitter that Shang Tsung isn't dead either.

While Nitara is admittedly irrelevant in the story at this point, Ashrah is trying to cleanse her soul by killing demons/evil so thats a big reason for her to want to kill Shinnok. Maybe she was involved in the netherrealm war and is now trying to atone for what she did? Idk its probably a reach, maybe im just a little salty lmao

I will say one thing though: while NRS does listen to the fans,and popularity can be a factor,you have to keep in mind that,even if it's a highly requested character,they can easily ignore him/her and go for the characters they want to make DLC. for example,everyone's saying Baraka,Rain and Sindel,but there's still a chance that maybe none of them make it,instead,other characters will. Also,there's still the possibility of there being more guest characters. How do we know this pack isn't comprised of 2 guests and 2 klassics like the last one?

Fujin and Noob Saibot for DLC

These two would sell through the roof and easily outsell any other charcater or guest character they could come up with! Who cares that noobs moves have been handed out the character would still rock so what if he borrows from cage, Quan or scorpion to make up three variations there is plenty of doubling up already.

So if NRS love money which they do then there is a very very good chance we will be seeing these two characters in the next DLC pack. Of course if there is another pack........

As much as I love Noob(and to a lesser extent,Fujin),they wouldn't outsell any popular guest character worth their salt,like Spawn,or Terminator,hell,even Ash Williams or Mad Max.
anyways,another thing I remembered(and this goes to Rain and Cyrax fans),guys,did you forget the assists? any character that has had an assist has been relegated to either an NPC cameo(Rain goes a little further than that,he's a fightable NPC) or they aren't in the game(barring a few mentions or kombat kard backgrounds)
That alone could be a big hint that they are just trolling us with Rain.
