Now I know Im not the only person on this site who wants a more realistic Mortal Kombat game. What I mean by realistic is the blood and gore.Come onEdward....we are all FUCKING! tired sleep of the cartoonish violence you have given us the past couple games.Actually the blood in MK vs DCU wasnt half bad but the bubbly blood snakes we have seen in Deadly Alliance,Deception,
and Armageddon are fucking terrible.Eddy boy promised us a nasty rated ''M'' game.I just hope they dont over use the blood.Say if Kano got punched in the mouth...Id be pleased just by one spray of blood and mabey some blood dripping down his lip other than gallons of blood coming from one or two
lacerations on the mouth. And if there are going to be neck snap fatalities
PLEASE! no blood during the execution. For disembowlments and body explosions I dont want to see little pieces of red fucking watermelon on the
ground!(as we seen in past 3 canons)I want to see intestines and ''real'' onternal organs actually being seen get ripped out of Ermac's stomache instead of shapeless hunks of orange.

If you still dont understand what I mean by ''Realistic'' just think of Baraka's Deception fatality(forward,up,down, triangle) when he slices the arms imagine seeing the arms hang on just by a piece of flesh thread, when the ugly bastard cuts the waist line I wanna see the opponent with a deep laceration exposing an intestine and when Baraka slashes the throat i wanna acknowledge the fact that Mileena resembles a fucking PEZ despencer.

Oh and lets not forget a more realistic fighting engine! Please no more close kombat or free fall kombat(Nice concept Ed but it failed).

I'm pretty sure they're working on how to make the game look realistic as they can get. So far, MK vs DC was pretty realistic in some sort of nature.

It's going to take a lot of hard work and the proper engine and all sorts of things like that to make everything look literally like it's real. Sure, they may not get it too realistic as MGS4, but they can get close.

Two years is good enough for the next MK installment but will WB have what it takes to change MK's unrealistic ways? God I hope so...

The thread title kinda didn't explain your true intent but I totally agree that the detail with blood and gore needs attention. You would figure that they would have worked a lot more on this in previous titles because the blood and gore is what made Mortal Kombat what it is. Some can say it was the story and this and that but that is nonsense because what the vast majority of people really want is blood, gore and violence. We want to see stuff that will almost make us turn our heads or vomit in our mouths a little. Also, along with that we need closer camera angles with the fatality cinematics so that it seems in your face and makes you think "WOW OMG!". I want to be shocked or even scared but in awe at the same time. Its like seeing a person that is deformed...its real and hardcore to see but for some reason its hard not to look. I want it to be so gruesome that its unavoidingly attractive.

Another thing is blocking a sword or axe attack with your wrist.Should weapons be disposed of?I mean,IMO less fatal weapons would be grand like
instead of two ninjas dukeing it out with broad swords, two ninjas dukeing out with staffs.Just like the first movie when Liu and the black guy were fighting with the staffs.

Agreed with your first post especially. I want too see the organs especially the guts when a person explodes instead of pieces of a red fruit. I also want to see the poop drip out of the intestines like water leaking out of a hose as Mileena licks it like a lollipop. grin

As for the weapons, the character should at least stumble a bit in pain as he/she tries to block the blade.

Oh also, I want MK to be more realistic because ripping out someone's heart and have them standing after in MKA, is too fake for me. The victim should at least be laying on the floor and then, the character can stomp on the victim's head or rip out the head and spine after as he/she is on the floor. Get it?

I remember reading about Baraka's unreleased fatality in his MK2 debut.
The crew said it was too graphic.Baraka would slice his or her stomache
open revealing innards that would fall to the ground...Think of the possibilities the crew can do with that one fatality.

Despite MKDC's HD graphics, everything still had that cartoony look to it.

I agree that MK9 should look as realistic as possible.

As for "realistic gameplay"... that'll never happen in MK. In thrives on extremeness. The characters have always appeared to have superhuman strength what with being able to to uppercut each other high into the air and knock each other across the arenas, so blocking deadly weapons with forearms and wrists shouldn't surprise anyone.

Lets not forget the special powers most have, so yeah.

Realistic appearance... Hell Yes! Realistic gameplay... No. It's a fantasy series, so I wouldn't suggest expecting such a thing.

I agree with this. And that Baraka fatality that one of you guys mentioned is pretty cool. He can use the intestines and strangle the opponent with it.

That would be awesome!
There is so much potential that they could use if they wanted to!

I agree completely.

Weapons should be blocked only by other weapons and not arms, unless they give every character some type of arm armor. If someone pulls their weapon, go for yours if you think you may need it to protect yourself. It would be irritating if you are playing with someone that always pulls a weapon if that was the case though. But I'd like to see some change there.

If you want to sell games and shock the world, make it realistically gory. Put Midway on the news and have people protest. That will bring attention to it and help make it what it needs to be while putting Midway back in business. Disembowlments, decapitations, dismemberments, canniballism, heart rips, eye gauging, jaw removing, spine rips, etc. would be great for reinventing Mortal Kombat. Go all the way with it. You never know if it will end up being the last MK game with todays economy, so go for broke.

Back in my day, Mortal Kombat had gallons of blood and baffling weapon properties and that's the way we liked it!

not everyone liked the weapons or the fighting style switching. i think that if a weapon system is involved they should use something similar to shoalin monks instead of having set weapons for each character. there are only a few characters that would even deserve there own weapons anyway so just implement that into special moves or combos.

No. Mortal Kombat does not need to suddenly turn into a Tekken-like fighting game. The creators of MK has enough ideas on how to improve the game, they don't need help from the other fighting games.

But they don't have enough ideas. They've proven this over the last six years. Besides, would you really be so offended if MK's gameplay was suddenly not horrible?

Um, I don't get offended by games that take other ideas from different games in their genre, but it would be pretty silly to see Mortal Kombat suddenly featured something in their game that was seen in different games...

Oh wait, they did and it was a fail... Create a Character... And I'm not just saying that because I hated the feature, I'm saying that because many have stated before in the past that the system was poorly developed and it could have a second chance, but, why risk it?

So, that's really all I have to say, not like anyone really has to agree with me on it or anything.

I spent months playing MKA, and most of that time was spent creating or tweaking my KAKs.

Would love for an improved version to return! It's a great mode, imo. Better than any puzzle, go-karts, or other nonsense mini-game that gets boring fast.

KAK was great but it wasn't without its flaws. For example, I wish there more cool, original moves you could give to your character without having to rip off other character's specials.

Or some form of body morph tool. Not every character is a tank.
