Now that the story trailer is out, it's a bit touchy as to whom is left to reveal.

Why would Baraka or any MK4 character (nimus Shinnok) be revealed at this point? No offense to their fans but it would be underwhelming.

Still on the fence about Rain. Boon has a weird relationship with him. Calls him a joke character, ignores him for all games with the exception of Armageddon, but there, gives him a decent role in the story and turns him into a demi-God. Then he leaves him out of the initial MK9 roster only to cave in after fans demands. All of this makes it impossible to tell if he's playable this time. I'm still betting on him being a story mode NPC.

I assume the next couple of weeks before the release will simply be Cassie's squad in depth and Mileena/Erron Black. Everything else at that point that we haven't heard (the big bad, Jax/Sonya/Johnny etc.) will be revealed with the game itself.

I think he calls him a joke character in the way of where his concept came from, he gets better treatment than guys like Mokap or Meat.

Plus, nothing screams "gritty realism" more than Kotal Kahn getting dropkicked off a rooftop by Rain and his naked, waxed chest.

Yes and no. A decent chunk of the cast already revealed did not appear in the trailer, or appeared just as briefly as the "tease" characters. Kung Lao, Ferra/Torr, Quan Chi -- no sign of 'em. D'vorah, Ermac, Kitana -- barely present. I wouldn't be at all surprised if one or two secrets are still squirreled away, and some of those most-requested fighters seem to have a high priority in the story.

People are deviating from the purpose of this thread and fast. All these one liners, list of who you want, why some should not be in, your theory of 'if you haven't seen him yet, he's probably not in' are not helpful and can go elsewhere!

Baraka sported a deception-ish attire, which looked new and cool.
I can see him playable since day1 or DLC.

Johnny Cage - All but confirmed. Lots of hints and pseudo-leaks.

Sonya Blade - Same as Johnny.

Liu Kang - Same as Johnny.

Shang Tsung - Maybe, although I'm leaning more towards 'unlikely'.

Jax - Same as Johnny.

Mileena - Same as Johnny.

Baraka - Doubt it. Maybe as DLC.

Cyrax - Same as Baraka.

Sektor - Nope.

Smoke - Same as Shang Tsung. Decent chance as DLC too.

Sindel - Nope.

Sheeva - Nope.

Stryker - Nope.

Kabal - Possibly DLC at best.

Nightwolf - Nope.

Noob Saibot - Highly unlikely. I think Bi-Han is Sub again, and Noob's fighting gimmicks have been lent out to other fighters in MKX (Quan Chi and portals, Scorpion and demon assist).

Rain - Maybe. Used to be very unlikely, but the new costume is something else. I can see this going either way now.

Kenshi - Likely, but not on the same level as Johnny, Sonya, Liu, Jax and Mileena. I'll say his odds are 75-25.

Skarlet - Nope.

Well even though they've yet to be confirmed Johnny and Sonya are most definitely playable. I mean Ed and other's have pretty much said Cassie can fight her parents and do fatalities on them. Can't remember exactly which interviews but they're out there. Also during the stream where Cassie flipped off Raiden at the character selection screen, the one guy said she gets that from her daddy and the guy next to him giggled and said hmmm and told him to shush. So to me Johnny is most definitely playable. Also with Sonya she was in the faction picture. They're playable imo.

What are people reading and what I am not reading because I really don't see how everyone is confirming johnny cage, Jax, Sonya, Liu kang and Shang tsung I must be missing something because I don't think any of these characters are making the cut this time round! We have our new earth heroes and a few old ones to guide them along I really don't think netherrealm will be stupid enough to stack the roster with so many earthrealm warriors especially considering they are all relatives of each other!
