It's not the right shade of blue. He doesn't look icy enough. Very nice drawing and coloring though. Just needs more of a brighter blue.

haha. No way does the blue need to be brighter. Realisticly speaking, a ninja would not wear bright blue. (Let's not bring up the "not ninja, Lin Kuei" thing.) He's not a superhero, despite what other properties the MK team wanna play with. (DC)

This is an excellent, realistic representation of sub-zero. Realism was the thing that seperated MK back in the day, and something thats dwindled away completely. This is great. Feels like old MK. :)

I didn't even know about this design. I have to say that while a simplistic look is good, I can't really say I'm crazy about the design or story idea for him.

Again with the disappointment haha. Oh well.

The lighter blue that KingJolly did is much better though. IMO

I actually like the darker version more, but either way would be fine to me.

It looks ugly, raggedy, and crusty

Whoever drew all these "reboot" pictures has some awful taste, seriously. They all look like some horribly melted painting of the original designs.

Maybe it's the lousy drawing that makes his designs look bad. I don't know, but any average fan can whip up cooler designs than these, for sure.

And who said there was even a reboot to be scrapped? as far as ive heard, this is something he was doing on his own because hed LIKE to see it. wasnt it?

im pretty sure the only cancelled game was MKSM2:Fire and Ice.

That Sub-Zero would have fit in the era of MKII, not on the current era we are now. He seems way to evil, too dark.

I like the original one I posted with the darker tone better, not the light blue one.

The design is very MK1-ish, with traditional ninja attire, and this is what MK9 needs. Personally I wish that this design makes the final cut, along with that Scorpion concept art from the same artist.

I personally feel those concepts were spot on with what mk needs. MK needs to make itself unique again. What made the first three games great were character design and the use of actors. It set its self apart style wise.

Take the core characters, apply these darker, souped up looks to them, and then take an Actor in a real costume, and scan them. Then overlay that over a 3D model to give it that realistic look, instead of the plastic action figure look, or the shiny slimy unreal engine look.

Make it look like Smackdown Vs. Raw or a Sports game, but in these crazy ass costumes.

To make a game darker you need to start with the character designs. I liked Raidens design and Loved scorpions design. Sonya was hot but she needed pants. Her design didn't say dark to me.

Sub-Zero is a dark gritty design and I like it but don't love it. If I glanced at it I wouldn't know who it was. Not enough personality to it I guess. Maybe it is the color. But I do like the direction it's going in. I just hope these designs are incorporated in the next game.

When Proce posted Kano, Raiden, Scorp, and Sonya, he said the original reason he painted them was as concept art for a reboot, but that was before Midway went bankrupt, the project was scrapped, and he doesn't work there anymore.

Subbie and any others he does in the future are just for fun, to finish the set.

Where did this come from anyways? I thought he said he only drew Sonya, Kano, Raiden, and Scorpion
