I don't know, people seem all primed up to get angry no matter what happens.

MK9 kills off a bunch of characters. We immediately see two camps emerge: the "How could they do that?! Those guys were the classics! They were IMPORTANT!" side, and the "Good riddance! Those guys were lame and boring and suck, so bring on the new!" side. Obviously, both can't win.

MKX debuts with two classic characters and four all new ones. "This sucks, these guys aren't Mortal Kombat characters. I don't want a game that's just Scorpion and Sub-Zero and nobody else!" Okay, so next they bring out some returnees. "What are you doing? You're just making the same old game all over again! This isn't supposed to be MK9-2!"

"Why of why did you kill off Kitana and Kung Lao? They were popular!" Oh lookie here, guess who's back from the dead? "But why can't the dead stay dead?!" Well, look, Jade stayed de-- "YOU MANIACS! If you can bring back those other guys, why not Jade!"

This is the problem with any argument that centers on NRS "not listening to their fans." Taken as a whole group, the fans don't even know what they want. Some people want mid-series characters back; others think they're colon sludge that should be flushed, bleached, and reflushed so that even the lingering memory of them doesn't stink up the whole house. Some people wanted about a third of a roster of mid-series characters, others didn't want to give up that many slots for their favorite classics, others didn't want them at all. So who is NRS supposed to listen to anyway? You, personally?

Every time NRS fills in one wish list, they take away from another. So anyone who really wants something to be disappointed about can certainly find something. For the rest of us, there's a big game coming out with upwards of 30 total characters to be played, with 3 variations each. That's a goddamn lot of stuff in the game, which doesn't leave a lot of time to worry about the stuff that's not in the game.

while you have a point here, it seems like there is a common strategy that NRS does follow, which is bringing the same ones such as Jax, Sonya, Kung Lao and so on, NOT giving a chance to characters such as Rain or anyone else post mk3 besides Quan Chi and apparently, their idea of the new generation of earthrealm heroes is the kids of those overly tired characters. so if you ask me, the usual recipe for filling a wishlist that they do follow is pleasing the same freaking fans over decades. why can't Fujin take the role of Raiden for a change ffs? make raiden DLC if they cry about it so hard, the series will NOT move forward if they keep shoving jaxes in our faces. and if their idea of retiring those characters is bringing a hybrid of them masked as their offspring, the series is doomed. there are characters that were not given a chance to shine and there is literally infinite characters they can come up with as brand new

It's obvious that characters who didn't appear in the previous game are going to be missed and lots of fans will request them, even the 3D era ones. It has been almost a decade since Armageddon.

People who expect 4 /5 post MK trilogy characters are going to be heavily disappointed.

With the ending of MK 2011, I say Shinnok has the highest chance of any and would be great to replace Shang Tsung who along with Shao Kahn is old news.

Havik has a chance with the mention of Chaos realm, though I think he's a DLC or just in story mode. I like his potential, I love his skeleton look and there is a lot of potential there. However, as a playable character, he flat out sucked before.

Fujin has potential, and has a chance probably as high as Havik.

Bo Rai Cho has almost zero chance, unless they make him more dangerous, more serious and more important.

The rest are seriously just not that interesting.

They're trying to get the MK9 returnees out of the way first(except Liu Kang maybe), then the 3D era characters, and probably keep the new characters hush-hush until or a little before release.
