I like Kung Lao. He really does look cooler older.

Interesting look to be sure. Its nice to see some age on him, as opposed to Kano, who more or less looks the same.

Hopefully the games master reveal is different, but I'm not going to press my luck.

Kung Lao looks great. I like how they've aged him, I like the facial hair he's sporting, I like the new take on the old design. Just like with Scorpion and Sub-Zero, I can see this as the eventual visual progression this character would take 25 years later. Right now this ranks as my second favorite Kung Lao costume, his first being his MK: DA alt for me. I look forward to seeing him in action.

I'm torn between this guys. Kung Lao is one of my faves, he looks great and his variations sound awesome.

But he DIED in MK9 and I thought they were supposed to be making cuts and making room for new characters? I wish the developers would somewhat stay true to the story.

You should know by now that no one stays dead in MK. I'm sure there is an explanation as to why he has returned. I mean hell, NRS pretty much told us that Quan Chi is now using the dead characters from MK9 as his personal army.

That's such lazy story wring though. It robs great characters of their storylines and this Kung Lao doesn't look very "possessed".

It would suck to have 5 or more characters whose backgrounds just involve them being Quan-Chi's pawns.

Well, I wasn't expecting Kung Lao, but I'm very excited for his return. His aged face looks great. I guess the serrated(?) hat denotes one of his variations.

I had a blast playing as him in MK9, and I look forward to his variations trailer.

I was thinking about Fujin as well. They both had similar wind type moves. It would be fairly disappointing if Fujin was excluded in favour of KL. But I have hope that Fujin will be in. He's fairly popular.

Kung Lao is great and he looks really cool but where the hell are all the women?! Are they really a niche? Every female we have now has been known about since E3! Hmmmm?

I agree, I'm going to be sorely disappointed if Fujin's not in the game. But I'm not giving up hope either, not until the last DLC character is announced.

I hope Kung Lao doesn't have a heavily wind-based variation, because if he does, that reduces Fujin's chances of being playable even more. EDIT: Never mind, all of them seem to be hat-focused.

ok now this is a surprise. i like kung lao. with baraka the best new character in mk2. i really hope for non-vertical slice fatalities and a gameplay video soon.

I found out about Kung Lao from IGN so if you plan on using the Internet at all between now and the games release your going to get a lot more spoilers.

I wouldn't count that he's brought back to the dead right away. I think Neatherealm knows better than the piss off their fans. One guy had a theory that the original Kung Lao that defeated Goro was imprisoned by Shang Tsung and escaped and this is him. Who knows. Anything is possible, there's always a way to change a story.

I know it's too early to say. but this reveal is giving me a bad feeling about the Game's writing. I was really expecting them not to relay on the old fan favourites and took some risks. If this is MK9's Kung Lao, It takes a lot of the impact from his death in MK9. I respect the opinion of users' that care mainly for the characters and gameplay but I had high hopes for decent story telling and NRS moving past the "nobody stays dead in MK". Giving the amount of available choices they had, I find this reveal quite disappointing.
