Overlooking Possibilities [Shinnoks Invasion]

Many of you seem to think that NRS has abandoned Shinnok's invasion in MKX. You do realize, that in a span of 25 years, this may still very well be included as a sub-plot?
Just look at how bad the Kahn crisis was botched. My guess is that the story will start with the NR invasion, which will also be terribly botched, and the events following that will continue on for 25 years. Events that may lead to a certain unexpected character gaining power, going insane, and trying to ass pound what's left of the MK universe?
This is my own prediction. Feel free to tell me how bad my idea is, as is standard with most topics.

It makes perfect sense, I was just expecting Shinnok's invasion to be the basis of MKX.
Well, with this, I suppose the masses will get their wish. Should the invasion ensue, Shinnok will most likely be playable.

You made a point that I forgot to. I would be willing to be that Shinnok will be a playable character in MKX.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts. A lot can happen in 25 years.

NRS really seems to be at a place where they want to stop re-telling MK's story and take it to a new place. I think that's pretty cool, and I wouldn't want this game to be a simple retelling of MK4.
That said, I love Shinnok as a character and it'd be real shitty of them just to leave that plot out when they foreshadowed it so heavily at the end of MK9.
MK9's story mode had distinct "chapters"--I could definitely see the Shinnok invasion being the first "chapter" of the story. I think it will (and should) play out a lot differently than it did MK4, though.
I think a running theme of this game will be "look how bizarre the continuity got after Raiden screwed everything up!" Cassie Cage seems to represent that a little for me.
