Kenshi.

He had his MK9 design in the comics, but lo and behold, here he is, confirmed for MKX, with a new design to boot. So why are people still thinking that recycled designs fully deconfirm someone?

To me, people like Reiko and Havik seem more likely now, especially since they're playing a bigger role in the comics than Kenshi, so far.

People also thought that the casual clothes deconfirmed Jacqui as a playable character, same for Frost's MMA gear, but now? Jacqui's also been confirmed, and Frost's looking like a possibility.

I think I made my point clear.

When Rain had his little "accident" during Kotal's attack, I appreciate that they had him going "hnnn..." while laying on the ground. It's like they were going "don't worry, he's not dead!"

Well 99% of all the characters with a design from the past seem to just be cameos in the comic.

I admit I was very worried that Kenshi wouln't be in the main game after seein his old design in the comic, but thank God he is confirmed from that mobile screenshot with a new design.

I guess we shouldn't jump to conclusions until more are confirmed or see who's in when the game finally comes out.

I think all we can say for sure is that characters with new designs are definitely in the game. But then why wasn't Kenshi wearing his new outfit in the comics?

When Kenshi appeared in the comics it was not long after the events of MK9, the outfit he has in game is obviously him older.

Shawn may not have had access to his new design because Kenshi wasn't as far along in development as other characters in the game at that point.

Precisely.

There is little point in giving him a new design for then if he's going to be absent for over a decade (and come back with a completely new outfit.)

I know that, but just because he appeared shortly after the events of MK9 doesn't he couldn't have worn his new outfit, regardless of his age. Scorpion wore his. Also, just how shortly after MK9 his part in the comics took place? He couldn't possibly have worn the exact same clothes and armor for months or years, could he? Now I'm reminded of his hobo alt in MK:DA.

Well, there was the "hnnn..." and there was also the writter going out of the way to specifically confirm that Rain wasn't dead on twitter.
