I think it's incredibly necessary. Some characters are just pointless to include in every game. Who really cares if Kano and Baraka have to sit out a title or two? Sometimes your favourite character won't make it, deal with it.

It'll be important for the next MK game to further explore the post-MK3 characters. They need a chance to shine.

Never liked it. I mean aside from Trilogy and Armageddon (ignoring the new game) there hasn't been a MK game with the complete playable MK1 and 2 roster, and you know they are the classics.

The trouble is they've never really replaced the older characters with good characters.
