NRS and their catering to the tournament players

Im pissed that Kung Lao, Kitana, and Liu Kang are only playable because they are popular with tournament players. Adapting to the roster is something that a lot of fans have to do and they shouldnt be any different. Not every character is going to be in every game when their are 70 something characters in the franchise. Sindel, Kabal, Jade, and Sonya were my mains in MK9 and I was fine with them sitting a game out and returning in MK11 or 12. It is not fair that they get their characters just because they are high tier. It just really pisses me off. If you think of MKX without those 3, you still have a good number of characters to learn. Does this really bother anyone else?

In terms of character selection absolutely. That said catering to the tournament fighting crowd dramatically improved the actual gameplay of MK immensely. The absurdly broken gameplay of the DA-A days are long gone and that's a good thing.

Liu Kang... Popular in the tournament scene?

Umm... Nope.

Kabal was the MOST popular in the tournament scene, where is he?

Cyrax was crazy loved in the tournament scene, I don't see him in MKX.

I don't think they pick based on who is popular in the tournament scene but I do think they do a lot for the tournament scene which is okay.

I like that games are being taken a lot more seriously now and that we have big and popular tournaments like EVO.

It's not just tournament players, Netherrealm and casuals like them as well. They will always be in nearly all games, above Fujin, Tanya Havik and any character that isn't popular. Yes, it's unfair but it will keep happening. Hell Kano is one of the least played characters, why is he still here? Because Netherrealm likes him, same with Quan Chi.

The fans that bitch about those characters are a minority, they aren't even 5% of the people that buyed the game. Bitching will change nothing.

This argument doesn't really hold up to me, honestly. Kabal, Cyrax and Sektor were hugely popular tournament characters and none of them are in.

I think we just have to face that Kung Lao, Kitana and Liu Kang are huge favorites both among casuals and within NRS, and they were gonna be included whether we like it or not. (I'm glad to have Kitana, personally, but.)

They are pleasing a whole lot more people including Kitana as opposed to someone like Li Mei. They are popular characters period, not just with the tournament crowd.

They aren't going anywhere, chances are, you'll see them return in MK11 too.

Liu Kang or Kitana aren't in the game cause they intentionally made them tournament viable (which they may or may not be btw, still undetermined). These characters were selected based on their popularity. You can keep whining about the roster but Liu Kang will always be more popular than Sindel or Havik or Reiko. Kitana will always be more popular than [insert female MK character name here].

What's up with these blowhards trying to put blame on the tournament scene for the roster decisions? They come out of the woodwork every now and then, so where is their nest located at?

As other people have already said, many of the tournament mainstays aren't even playable in the game. Hell, Cyrax isn't even mentioned.
