he mixed things up, hotaru was an intentionally boring character. He wants everything to be normal and orderly and nice and clean. Havik wants everything to be crazy and violent and dirty and sexy. I can see his X-ray now: He punches you in the ribs, breaking 4 of them, then in the stomach then in the face breaking your skull and you fall, then he punches himself in the face cracking his own skull.

I liked Hotaru. Great design, cool name, interesting background...the only thing I didn't like were is special moves. Random, generic fireball and kick thing. So i wouldn't mind him Hotaru as DLC but he needs more unique specials that define his character like that handcuff move, that fits.

Ive always thought that guy was kinda gay, but screw it another character that people would like to play as is ok with me haha.

Hotaru and Havik's story in MKD was one of my favorite additions to MK. I really want to see these two come back.

Gotta admit, I was not a fan of Hotaru as presented in Deception, and the Seido/Chaosrealm storyline felt tacked on, but I really do like your ideas for him. The germaphobe characterisation, the removal of the frankly goofy looking flags, and the expanded moveset all do appeal quite well.

You've sold me on the idea that his character has potential, although I'm unsure if whether or not the creative team at NRS will be able to capitalise on it. I wouldn't mind a chaos/order DLC pack with a revamped Havik/Hotaru, although I do ask that they keep Darius and Dairou out of it...

I really do not like Hotaru, but I think if he was worked on he could be cool. Don't know why he has a girls name though, as well Reiko.

Havik is a lot cooler, but kind of needs Hotaru for his story work. So I'd be happy with them both.

Hotaru was fucking great. Gameplay-wise,he just needs some more special moves with,hopefully,some sort of unifying theme. I mean,I'm really not sure how the magma fireball tied into the whole "Order" thing,but goddamn it looked cool. :3

Story-wise,one idea I had was to connect him to Ashrah.

From what we've seen so far,Ashrah has been shown to be completely unwilling to listen to those who she considers to be her enemies and fanatically loyal to what she considers to be her purpose in life. And seeing how she obviously sees things in black and white,she comes off as a massive moralfag.

Who else do we know that's exactly like that?

That's right,Hotaru. I'm sure he'd definitely take notice of her at some point and,eventually,take her under his wing.

You just made me want Havik in this game. Self-mutilating X-Ray would be SOOO fitting for him. Hotaru wasn't bad at all, especially when compared to a couple other characters introduced in deception. Though personally I'd prefer to see Havik, Reiko, or Khameleon.

Hotaru, my favorite character from Deception. He rocks hard, and his chops are awesome.

I'm kinda divided with MK9, it feels good to have this go-back-to-the-roots scenario but at the same time it feels bad to know that its not a direct continuity within the story of the newer games. I'm going to miss the newer characters, unlike many, I really enjoy the newer games a lot.

In my opinion, adding Order and Chaos as the remaining realms to the MK universe was the worst thing that has happened to the storyline. It's as if they ran out of ideas, and then decided last minute to add them in the good ol' Light vs Dark fashion.

All characters that accompanied said realms were boring, bland and just plain ridiculous. Havik is probably one of the worst. He doesn't fit at all in the MK universe. Maybe if they just stuck with the Netherrealm, things might be different. But alas, we're stuck with Orderrealm and Chaosrealm... (they even have the most boring realm names I can think of)

What gets me about these guys, its not "im good and hes evil". but the two characters are still huge in opposition.
