some other MK On-liners agree that it wouldn't hurt to have some more original and creative motives behind the MK warriors having rivals besides the traditional revenge motive, maybe we could use this thread to suggest a few new ideas for NRS in case they see this, maybe if they see something that sounds good they could consider applying it to a future MK game as I'm sure they've got the MKX story sorted out already, so I'll start with a few eg:

#1 Cyrax Vs Kano: Sonya and Johnny programme Cyrax to watch over Cassie, Cyrax is instructed to eliminate Kano if he ever shows up on the radar

#2 Taven & Kitana Vs Rain & Tanya: Taven defeats Blaze, winning the competition set by Argus and Delia and wins the promised prize of becoming protector of Edenia, Taven soon forms an attraction to Kitana and the two become rulers of Edenia much to Prince Rains dismay, who then forms an alliance with Tanya who also desires to take control of the realm of Edenia.

#3 Nitara Vs Skarlet a battle between two of the most blood thirsty femme fatales, Nitara would love to consume Skarlet's mass amount of blood vice versa, also to eliminate the competition.

#4 Raiden Vs Evil Liu Kang, Shang Tsungs MK9 ending becomes canon but rather than Shang Tsung facing Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat- Raiden is instructed by the elder gods to stop Tyrant god Liu Kang.

#5 The Six protectors of the realms Vs the one being, I look forward to seeing this, it has to happen one day right?

#6 Havik Vs Bo'rai Cho, this is a comical/joke one but I'll add it anyway because imagining this is pretty funny and MK has always had a sense of humour in it's games, basically Havik (who eats living flesh) targets Bo' Rai Cho due to the fact he's a meaty treat and so Havik's face lights up every time he sees Master Bo and during a series of battles Bo Rai Cho could end up having a chunk of his arm bitten off, a battle scar that will always painfully remind Bo of his new rival, it could also work as a motive for Bo to go on a diet and maybe his weight loss could be his comical happy ending

it's not easy to think up motives outside of revenge or wanting to dominate the realms, but if you have an idea post it!

With a little bit of fine tuning your idea, it would actualy be a REALLY awesome idea!
Though the chances of Nitara/Boraicho/EvilLui/Taven being in will be like 1%
Havik on the other hand, that would be awesome

Regarding the Raiden vs Liu Kang, I'd actually like to see Shang's ending becoming fully canon. The thought of a reformed Shang Tsung trying to take down the Champion of Mortal Kombat-turned evil intrigues me.

Siding with the forces of Light doesn't mean Shang has to start skipping with flowers in his hands while whistling a jaunty tune. He could very much be like Scorpion in Deception; a dark anti-hero doing the will of the Gods.

you're right, the role reversal of a more good Shang Vs Evil Liu Kang would be ironic and frankly both of them (having been around since MK1) could both benefit from being shown in a different light.

Interesting idea! The only one I'd be okay with is Cyrax/Kano. That one would be interesting to see. If it were in Kano's favor, I could see him dismantling Cyrax and using cybernetics parts for himself.

exactly, a logical motive for Kano to rival Cyrax

Scorpion/Sub-Zero: Scorpion is once again hunting down Sub-Zero, this time for...wait for it...killing Quan Chi. See, Quan Chi died before Scorpion could learn that it was him who killed his family and clan. Clueless as ever, Scorpion, not realizing his people have already been avenged, will spend the next twenty-five years hunting down Sub-Zero, who after the first year or so, will already get fed up trying to prove his innocence, and will just keep killing Scorpion whenever he shows up.
