^No please god no... ANYONE but Shujinko (if anyone should take Liu Kang's place that is) I don't know guys, Liu Kang's pretty much going to be champion until the next tournament which is a little less than 50 years away IIRC. Also I never found it a good idea to replace the main hero of the series.

The last MK Tournament was MK II. Liu Kang has been the champion since. MKIII-MK Deception weren't tournaments, so therefore, Liu Kang's still the champ. As for the main hero, I didn't think it was a bad idea to have Kung Lao as the hero, I liked that in MK Deadly Alliance.

Personally, I think it's time for Kung Lao to take Liu's place as the Mortal Kombat champion, and main hero. MKDA started to push him into the role, but then they shat on him from a great height in MKD. Sub Zero also seems like a likely candidate, as he's been gaining a lot of storyline build up and new powers in the last two games.
I disagree with having an all new character show up out of nowhere to have it. They tried this with Shujinko, making him the new hero and having MKD revolve around him, and response was mostly negative. I think the champion HAS to be an MK veteran, with an established history in the series, and somebody that the majority of fans likes. Liu Kang should not be champion again, he had his time, and he got boring around MK3.

Given Kung Lao's attitude in Shaolin Monks, I'm not sure he deserves to be champion.

Yeah, we need somebody new.
But NOT Sub-Zero or Scorpion, we need to change it around for once.......Hotaru, Ermac, even a female wouldn't be all that bad.

Hmmm,
Last time I checked Kang was the MK champ but he was killed.
From playing MK-D we were led to believe that the elder gods choose another champion... originaly we were led to believe it was Shujinko but this was all part of Onaga's Deception hence the games name...Anyway by playing through
the Konquest Mode you do have to face the elder gods new champion and it is none other than Scorpion.
So I'm thinking that a new main character for the MK series may well be Scorpion, I even heard rumors Scorpion maybe the main character for the new movie...but its all speculation

Now that Raiden has abandoned his god-like condition it could be a good role for him.Besides Raiden, Kung Lao or Scorpion could be a good shot.Oh and Kenshi too.
