MK9 goes back to the first three games, so what will happen to the story in the next game?

Many believe the story will go into MK4 and or MKDA. Personally I think that would be pretty lame. By MK4 the characters got a lot worse and we don't need to see them come back. I also didn't care for the MK4 story as much. IDK it never interested me, and it got more complex.

I'm hoping the time shift makes a new story occur, with a new villain and some new characters. I'm hoping for 85 percent of the MK9 roster.
