Sounds too much like a mixture of MK3 storyline and MKA storyline for me. But welcome to MKO

MK3 and MKA were essentially all out Wars between good and evil.

Hey welcome back Chris. I'm glad you decided to come back.

About the idea, it's not bad, but I personally think it's time to switch up the way MK is presented to us. I agree it sounds a bit too much like a MK3+A mix, because it runs the same storyline possibilities right out of the old MK hand book.

"Get a big bad boss, make Raiden wrangle up the good guys, and let's all play a fighting game."

I would love to see something different. Maybe the boss isn't a big bad guy, but instead he's the host of a Shaolin Monks tournament? What if he's passing the torch to the winner? What if they're just trying to find a replacement for Liu Kang, and the bad guys are just trying to foil the plan?

What if the contest is just a means for one of the bad guys' entertainment, and some of the other bad guys see an opportunity in becoming the champion of Earth? There's power associated with that position, seeing as how the champ doesn't age and so on. What if?

So essentially, I want them to think outside of the monotony for a game or so, and step into the future of story telling, character building, and overall gaming experience. People fighting has gotten old, so I think the MKTeam needs to present this sort of game to us in different ways.

That's the sort of thing I want.

Assuming few (if any) original characters return, how does the existence of new combatants get explained?

Wouldn't they have been killed or have lost their powers during the battle of armageddon? Or was that limited to those in that valley (I don't recall if this was explained.)?

Back on topic.... I'd like to see a the story consist of multiple conflicts (using as an example, Lin Kuei vs Shaolin Monks) that interweave into one larger story. I suppose that has existed already, but it can be done in greater detail... Like having the choice of fighting as MK or DC, for example.

I want a story that takes place in a time when neither side is strong enough to take the other side out, like they're both desperatly attempting to bring themselves back together, a cold war of sorts if you will. And maybe there's one certain character or faction (Havik and his people?) trying to take advantage of this. The whole good vs evil story isn't bad, but like everyone is saying we've had too much of it. And, of course, if a character died in a previous game (excluding the immortal/semi-mortal ones such as Shinnok, Fujin, Scorpion,) they should stay dead.

The originally proposed storyline sounds a lot like MKA to me. I think it's time to streamline things, and get a new vibe going -- one less chaotic. Predator has got some great ideas, actually. A tournament just to decide the Champion of Earth would be fantastic, and you could have sinister forces gathering around the outside of the story.

Eventually, I have no doubt that MK will turn into good vs. evil again, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. But it needs to be built up. Evil needs to be established as menacing and a threat to all realms, and the heroes need to prove themselves.
