It's made with Unreal 3 because PS3 and 360 don't support Unreal 4.

Warner Bros Interactive are contracted to use Unreal Engine 3 in all games published until the end of 2014.

There were tweets from the Unreal Engine twitter said that the game would be using Unreal Engine 4 but then were "clarified" to be using Unreal Engine 3.

Consider that Batman Arkham Knight another game that is published by Warner Bros was also using Unreal Engine 3 and that has also been pushed back 2015 when the contract has finished.

The Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 can not use Unreal Engine 4 but the Playstation 4 and Xbox One can.

The official blurb also said that Mortal Kombat X will be "fueled by next-gen technoolgy". What this technology is unknown, while Ed Boon said " we wanted to utilize the power of new-gen consoles to give players our most intense game yet" and that the game will feature "an all new graphics engine".

Make of that what you will. We will definately have a clearer idea when we are shown gameplay footage.

My take: It seems to me that the next gen consoles will use Unreal Engine 4 or a very heavily modified Unreal Engine 3 and the previous generation consoles will use Unreal Engine 3.

Th differences would be night and day if next gen actually got UE4.
