I really enjoyed the snippets of what happened with Sonya and Johnny after the Netherrealm War. I thought we'd never get to see that. I assumed they were already an item when they went into the Netherrealm after Quan Chi, judging by their more intimate back-and-forth. But apparently it wasn't until Cassie was on the way that they actually "itemized"... Unless Sonya went into the Netherrealm pregnant?!? Hahaha

Poor Johnny; I appreciate how much he cares and how he keeps trying to reform their bond no matter how many times she ices him. But it's pretty crazy what Sonya has gone through; Johnny helped in the Netherrealm War, but Sonya's been on that "save the world" journey nonstop all her life, before and after Shinnok and Quan Chi laid their siege. I really hope the comics will give us some deep dialogue between her and Cassie in the future, to complement this stirring insight into her and Johnny. God knows MKX's Story didn't pay much attention to their relationship, rather dismissing it as "Sonya's demanding and tough and Cassie can't hope to live up to her." I'd like to see something deeper than that, where Sonya's "ice-queen" front is melted and some real shit gets talked about.



I'm enjoying Havik as well. That panel where he goes from normal to macabre, tearing blood from his face, was bad-ass. Makes me wish he was one of the DLC characters. He'd have some crazy variations and moves, and even crazier dialogue.



Thank God for these comics. What a treat, and what a treatment to give MK's story. Such crazy good development being gifted to these characters. I didn't think it was possible for me to like Sonya and Johnny more, but seeing them portrayed with such detailed intensity and realism...I'm incredibly thankful we get to enjoy these.

Am I the only one who thought the little girl was Kira?

It makes sense with her MKD biography and this would give her a BIG reason to hate the special forces.

I actually liked this issue. It at least makes Sonya more likeable. I really like how Johnny is depicted as a father as well.

Really hoping Skarlet doesn't die... Especially since now that her black suit has red on it. Looks much better.

I had wondered if Sonya was pregnant when she fought Quan Chi. Given their dialog about Johnny's place, she had already been up there with him. So ititit's possible that she was pregnant and didn't know yet.

I'm I the only one that wants to try Johnny's famous shadow pancakes? Lol

Does anyone know how long the comics go on for? I thought chapter 24 would be the last, but now I see there's another issue after that. Does that finish it or are there even more issues?

It's going to be 36 chapters long.

I saw Chapter 24. It's really good and blew apart my expectations especially with Scorpion.

When #24 started I thought: "well that's it for Havik" and then woahhh, maybe not!

Hoping Havik doesn't die. I'm writing a fanfiction of a hypothetical Mortal Kombat XI where Havik is a major villain and I'm hoping he appears in the next game canonically as well.

Kittelsen repplied to my tweed and said the same haha, I hope she ends up being Kira as Sonya (one of the good guys) killing her mother in front of her during a war would suddenly make the character much more deep and interesting to the plot.

The problem is that in-game canon stated they married, had Cassie and divorced sometime after that.

Enjoy the comics even though the in-game storymode has rendered most of it non-canon.

Nothing in the comic contradicts this.

Maybe they married in a hurry at some point during Sonya's pregnancy.

Because she's boring as all hell and her storyline could be used on someone better.

Anyway, this chapter seemed to be about slyly mentioning as many NRS guys as possible, even the individual who confirmed Johnny Cage for the game ("Onabru").
