Mortal Kombat Trilogy remake anyone?
Hi I'm new here, but I've been playing MK for ages.
As far as I'm concerened no new (3D) Mortal Kombat's have anything on the old 2D ones (mk1,2,3,3u,t). That as it may be, Mortal Kombat Trilogy is not cutting it anymore in terms of graphics.
I would love to see a refurbishment of Mortal Kombat Trilogy for the new generation consoles. Same exact game (well maybe a few new characters or something), but mainly a total graphics/sound haul bringing it up to the quality of today's 2D fighters eg. King of Fighters NeoWave.
If this were made I have no doubt every mk fan would go out and buy it (hint nudge wink Boon )
An arcade version would certainly not go astray either
Anyone else ever thought of this?
Later.

There are at least of few of us here that I am certain have thought about this for a long time. MK2KungBroken just asked me last night what I thought about something like this for Sony PSP.
If it could happen anywhere at this point it'd probably be the Sony PSP, since they made Twisted Metal: Head On - which takes its gameplay and style from Twisted Metal 2, the older, PSX game that is still the best in the series. And, they are releasing Darkstalkers Chronicles for PSP, a classic fighter if ever there was one. Sigh. Maybe someday.

ummm, the whole point I am making here is that I DONT want it to be 3D!! What year was Trilogy released 1996-8??
They could make a remake for a 10-year anniversary or something...the AI would be another thing theyd need to fix, so cheap.
Personally i wish they had never gone 3D with the main Mortal Kombat series. Sure a 3D Mortal Kombat was nice in MK4 but i wish they'd stuck to 2D graphics, KOF is proof that a 2D fighter can stand the tests of time in the 3D gaming age we are in now, if only Mortal Kombat had of stayed on this path we would be playing an AWESOME 2D Mortal Kombat now geez.

It was made in 1996, because at the end of the MKT credits tells you about the release of MK4 coming up which was released in 1997.
I never has been really happy with the appearance of 3D in the mortal kombat saga....when mk4 was released, I thought the 3D in that game was unnecessary, since during the battles you even can't notice it, unless you do some steps aside...
of course mkd is a lot more better made than mk4, but the gameplay has maybe too much changed since mkda, and I really liked the "old mk fighting style".... moreover, they have given up the "digitalized and filmed characters" since mk4....too bad cause with the power of the new consoles, I'm quite sure we could have a mk with filmed characters, and in 3D! .... that's what I really would like to see one day...
but the idea of a 2D remake of the old mk games sounds great too , since I'm fond of the "old 2D mk fighting style"...

Id like a 3d remake with all the characters with what i have heard aboutthe PS3 they should be able to do it! with all the mem on the cds! i mean they should also be able to throw in a 2d version with all the characters in as a bonus on the disc as well!!
Yeah the classic 2D MK fighting style is definitely better than the new 3D style in my opinion...
At least with MK 4 it was a very similar style as the 2D ones.
The latest two are really TOTALLY different games, just with the Motrtal Kombat theme and characters pasted on top. I mean, if they released Deadly Alliance as a game that didnt have anything to do with MK it would be just like any other 3D fighter not anything like MK...
Classic MK rocks!

if they would not switched for total 3D, there would hve not been any sequels following up to MK4. Face it, the 3D games are necessary to keep the whole MK universe together. And thank God that there are no palette swaps.
MK classics rule hard, but they need to go. This new aproach with the 3style thing is really interesting, though the engine sucks hard.

3D definitely had to come but the look of MK2 rocked. If in the future they could make live capture with CG combine again in 3D it would be cool. I would love to see a side project though of MK2 being revamped. Maybe add some new characters and fatalities like 3 or 4 each but the biggest thing would be to make the graphics improved with the filming and CG. As stated earlier in this forum 2D fighter are still alive but I only feel that way because street fighter never and I mean never did well in 3D. But they did do a Street fighter game awhile back that was 2D but was filmed and IMO looked great but was done too early for its time.

The graphics of MK Deception is awesome but music after MK4 sucked ass. There's nothing I like about deadly alliance, so I'm regarding anything of MK4, Gold, Mythologies, and some of Deception.
What happened from having the original chinese style to insane FX mixes. I don't know any better words to describe it.

A Mortal Kombat game for the psp would be awesome. I would very much like to see an Ultimate MK 3 + or something. MKT would be nice as well but I would much rather have UMK3. Imagine traveling on the road and whipping out UMK3 with some of your friends for head to head play. That would just make MK Fans go nuts I think.
I hope Midway doesn't overlook the PSP. UMK3 for PSP Midway! :) Make up for not putting UMK 3 in Midway Arcade Treasures Volume 2.

How about re-releasing trilogy for the current systems
(in it's most favored 2D format)
Adding in exclusive new levels and some more fatalities (like 2 new).
With more dramatic alternate costumes.
and giving the bosses 3 fatalities .....
NO Krypt!!!!
It's possible due to the fact that the new systems hold more data!!!

A new trilogy game? It should have every boss ever in teh mortal kombat series, the best characters *cough*Scorpion*cough*, some of the special characters in the game such as Monster or Meat, and remakes of some of the classic arenas. ANd just in case of memory shortage, make it two discs.

You know how Trilogy shouls be re-released? As a bonus in MK7 or MKSM. Fully playable PSX perfect trilogy as a bonus. Now THAT would be cool!
i strongly agree with "camsta4" (for the most part) !!! .... they need to make a NEW 2D fighting game for systems like xbox/ps2 ... but keep the old annonser from MK 2-3 since those where the best... the new 3d fighting games annonser's suck compared to the old ones.... like the guy who says "fight" ... the old days where so much better! :)
cause they can take a game like MKT and make it arcade perfect if they really wanted to on systems like xbox/ps2 (screw the gamecube cause it's controller flat out sucks for fighting games)
cause me personally the "midway arcade treasures 2" transelations of MK2-MK3 was pretty solid overall but still not arcade perfect (althogh pretty damn close) ... main flaw i noticed in MK3 is the SOUND , it's to trebly ... especially on that one level where the news papers are flying around... but gameplay wise it's pretty damn close...... as for MK2 this i would say is closer to the arcade then MK3's transelation was... although it aint perfect either and again it's mainly in the sound dept ... but the sound itself is pretty clear it's mainly just it aint synced properly at times... like for example look at real arcade game's bridge vs the midway arcade treasures transelation.... it definately is not synced right :( ... but overall i would say MK2 transelation i would give about a 8-9out of 10.... where as the MK3 version i would give about 7-8ish cause without all the sound i would say it hurts the all around expierience..... in the end of the day there both quality transelations from a "gameplay" standpoint and all around visuals (pretty darn close to arcade,if not the same)... but the sound is where they suffer (mainly speaking about MK3, althoughMK2 is off a slight bit, but for the most part MK2 is almost perfect)
but all in all i recommend EVERY 2D MK fan in general to get a hold of the arcade roms and MAME emu those are PERFECT :) (minus a few sound cracking sounds here and there)

Liking the 2D series themselves, do we really want to go back to 2D-only MK? I think the 3D and the realism is what separates MK from the animae (sp?) style Street Fighter/Capcom Vs. Series. (BTW, Did they ever make a SF4?) You're not limited to one line or a limited fighting style. Plus the arenas look better in MKDA and MKD.
However, I like the idea of putting a classic 2D MK as a sub-game, (maybe MKII except that Jade, Smoke, and Noob are also playable).

I think that MK Trilogy was better than MK1-UMK3. The reason was because it was not the action that changed, it was the characters put on there. BTW the fighting was lovely. A MK Trilogy remake would make my day if it were to come out on ps2 and be in 3D like deception. I also wouldnt mind seeing a couple extra characters like quan chi, bo rai cho, and frost.

I agree with almost every1 here when I say MKT was cool but if they did it for new systems in 3d it would take forever to make. MKT was made so fast b-cuz of palate swapping.

I'd like if in MK7, they had a 2D Trilogy like the old games with real fighters and a game play style similar to the old games but updated.
Like a new 2D MK basically with the addition of the new fighters from the 3D games.
That'd be an awesome mini game IMO.
I wouldnÂt even care if it didnÂt have a story, just have it be a fighting game to fight like Virtua fighter.
The story would be for MK7 the 3D game.
The next Gen consoles will have the ability to make characters look photo real. Take Doom 3 for example and that's for the Xbox. Imagine what they can do with Xbox2 and PS3.
Midway is going to use the Unreal Engine 3 for the Next Gen games.
Check out a video demo of what it can do here.
