The film won the top five Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Director and Best Screenplay. To date, it is the third and most recent winner of this achievement. Rotten Tomatoes records that The Silence of the Lambs received a 96% positive response from critics, which is quite an achievement.

Another thing to note is that Silence of the Lambs is a dark horror film, so what does this mean? Is Ed Boon hinting at the fact that Mortal Kombat is a violent masterpiece? Or even better, is Ed Boon hinting at the fact that this could be one of the greatest Mortal Kombat games we've had in a while? Maybe at least one of the darkest? It is very possible. Despite some financial issues at first, the Mortal Kombat team has set some great goals and achieved them. This Mortal Kombat game will be perhaps the most brutal, cringe-worthy, story heavy, character focused Mortal Kombat games in a long time, maybe even ever.
