I'm *quite* certain large elements of the MK4 story will factor in,
but I'm betting we'll see totally new territory with some familiar faces and situations, as well.

Who knows... they could have Shinnok kill Blaze while Quan Chi summons Onaga. They have a lot of freedom, and I think that's pretty cool

The next game will most definitely deal with tons of MK4 material and references.

It's all about Shinnok now. It might not be specifically the same plot, but, it will definitely borrow from it and I'm guessing it will add/feature elements, stories, and characters from MKDA and MKD.

We knew it wasn't going to be MK4 already. MK4 was a Netherrealm invasion on Edenia which doesn't exist in this timeline. Also many different characters have died or survived. So it's really no surprise, but I imagine (and hope as well) that they do incorporate some features from MK4 in terms of characters and locations; Tanya, Reiko, The Fire Well, Elder God Hall, etc.

I hope that when they do MK10, which should include the story of MK4, it has the same feel. Not gameplay wise, but atmosphere.

And that's perfectly fine. I just don't want a remake with slight changes like "Instead of Liu Kang, Kai defeated Shinnok!" or "Jarek ends up staying with the good guys after Shinnok's defeat!" ect.

Let's bring in a few new faces and have this game allude to an all new conflict after Shinnok is defeated. Or if Shinnok wins. W/e they choose to do.

But we definitely don't need to re-live every game. That's not progress.

They better bring back the Wind World and The Tomb. My two favorite MK4 arenas.

They should use the Screw and that Skull arena too.

Yeah, in my opinion, I think it was the darkest "feeling" MK has ever gotten.
But I'm pretty sure we won't get that again.

I'm still sure that they'll carry on the current story with Shinnok and Quan, so it'll be similar to MK4 if anything.

You all should be prepared to move forward. Many of you foolishly went into MK '11 expecting it to be a complete retelling of MK1-MK3 and now you're expecting the next 3 or so sequels to be re-imaginings of MK4-MKA.

That(hopefully) won't happen.

As I always say, we need to stop living in the past and move forward. This timeline is a new beginning, why waste it on making minuscule changes to history we already know? That's not progress dear. That's a big pile of shit.

MK10 can be about Shinnok and Quan but I'm also expecting a few new characters(Maybe 3 at the most) and hopefully a foreshadowing of an all new conflict for MK11.

Time to let the nostalgia trips go.

I think the beggining will be similar, but then there will be mayor changes. Personally, I would love if they revived Onaga during the game, before Shinnok is defeated/wins. Some really interesting things could happen from that, ending in a great masacre of charachters and, thus, the stop of Armaggedon, giving us a comlete clean start for MK11.

Ed Boon probably means it won't happen exactly like MK4... but we all know we're going to see MK4 characters with MK4 stages with a storyline based off of MK4.

I only expected MKX to be similar to MK4, and MKDA-A I don't expect to happen again. I never did.

I've been thinking, Since Liu Kang is dead, maybe Kai wants some seriouse payback on Raiden for that. He'll be a dark character this time around. Still on the forces of good, but wants to avenge Liu Kang's death.

Yea elements but not MK 4. Shinnok is prolly gonna be the big bad still, hopefully he has a playable chracter and big demon boss (think mythologies)

Hey, I was not opposed to the idea of taking the story in a new direction after MK1-3... I just think the way it was done was rather poor. (There was seriously no need to have everyone die at the hands of Sindel, that was just a bullshit scene that existed for no other purpose than shock value) I would've just had most of the villains die... while also killing off maybe a few heroes (in much better dignified deaths than what they got) and then go in a new direction. Come up with new bad guys something like that.
