Honestly I don't see why it matters much whether you can choose one particular x-ray or if a certain one comes with each variation. They aren't that useful in fights, anyway.
Well, as you could see with Sub-Zero's for example, his was a counter. Maybe another of his will be a charge, like it was in MK9. If people prefer the charge over the counter, but is stuck with the counter because they've chosen a certain Variation... I just think that would suck.
