Honestly I've NEVER much cared for the background music post-MK3. I miss the creepy, oriental sounds of the original games.

Plus, there is a charm to the sounds of midi music that 'real' instruments just don't produce.

This was one of my favorite stage theme's. I agree, I hope the music in this game is better than the MK9's.

They all had fitting music.... with MKDA-MKD both being my favorite.

From what I hear from MKX so far I really like it. I like the Kove's music, the Snow Forest, and ...not too sure if the music playing for the Jungle is the same one in Kano's trailer, but I'm hoping it is.

Its going to be in the same vein as MK9, but a step above. I just hope there isn't too many generic Symphonic tracks.

I could see why a lot of people like MK1-3's tracks though, because there was more melody and diverse sounds.

I don't like the direction the music in MK's been going. Like last few MK games, I think character select theme is disappointing and forgettable. I hope it's temporary.

The old tunes really gave MK a darker feel. It created the right setting for MK, and it never gets old.

The problem here is you can barely hear it. I had my volume all the way up and strained to listen to it.

From what I can hear though, this actually doesn't sound that bad. I like it better than MK9's character select screen music.

This is completely fine for a menu but completely sucks for a select screen theme. It's way too quiet and slow-burning.

It's sad MK music been on a steep decline following Deception. I'll admit, though, that from what I've heard, I do like Snow Forest and The Kove's BGM.

Lighten up on the orchestra and bring back the percussion.

Yeah I hope they go back to the MK1-UMK3/Trilogy music, that shit was the absolute best IMO.

Ever since the Lower Mines/The Pit. I love that track, but it also signals the beginning of MK's fascination with generic orchestral scores for the last decade.

The only way you can hear them (for the moment) is in gameplay videos. It's easiest with Gamespot's videos from E3 with the speech/sound effects lowered.

I just hope they stop trying to do orchestral stuff. Dan nor whoever did the soundtrack for Armageddon or MK vs DC can do them. They should just stick with the more ambient stuff or the more electronic stuff.

I have grown to dislike the MK3 soundtrack. Imo they shifted too much from the general idea.


And they fucked up with the whole American invasion stuff. MK9 blows that out of the water.

I just noticed watching those E3 MKX videos of the Kove that they've changed right side of the sky in the background from clouds to a sunset.

As far as the music goes though, the less orchestral the better. I don't want generic theatrical scores in MK.

I just want something similar to MK2 (Sega Genesis). That was the peak for me. The Wasteland theme... My God. I'm with everyone who's sick of the generic scores. BRING BACK DA BEAT!

I thought the MK9 soundtrack was the best in ages, and paid great service to most of the 1-3 tracks (love both Courtyward versions). If I had to single out a weak point it'd be guitar overuse, but the new tracks, especially Shao Kahn's Throne Room, were good. Listened to it this morning.
