Hopefully, starting with Mortal Kombat 9, there well be a slew of characters that will be dead... and stay dead. However, we all know that Midway can't stay away from re-using their old characters that should be boiling in Hell or whatever. Sure, you could set a side-story game that takes place in between like, MK3 and 4 or 4 and Deadly Alliance or something, but wouldn't it be a bit more original to semi-adapt the only ongoing storyline that I've personally given a crap about from either Marvel or DC in the last decade...?

Blackest Night

For those that don't know, Blackest Night involves a couple of super-obscure Green Lantern villains heading up a team of "Black Lanterns", the roster of which is composed of zombie versions of deceased DC heroes and villains.

An MK/DC game that takes place in the Blackest Night storyline would eliminate the need for a ridiculous "Kombat Rage" style plotpoint - the battles would be between the living and the dead.

Now, it would make most sense if the game development wouldn't even start until after the storyline has finished, to take full advantage of the roster pickings and story mode plots. But just out of what is known about the storyline, there could be an epic lineup, at least on DC's side.

What do you think?

I really doubt they'd base a MK vs DC plot on Blackest Night.

More likely they'd pick up the ideas in their arcade mode endings and have the main villain be Scorpion with Dark Kahn's powers, or a Quan Chi/Lex alliance.

So what you're telling me is that we should fight zombie formes of killed characters? We'll have 20 zombie Liu Kangs! Thank you, but no thank you grin

The trouble is: No one really dies in Mortal Kombat / DC Universe. lol. /half joking.

Yeah, I can see (if there is a MK Vs DC 2) the game based on a Luthor/Quan alliance. And they are both tricky bastards, its going to be delightful to see who would come out on top for the eventual backstab attempt. Which both are planning.

Along with the return of the rejuvenated Darksied and Big Daddy Kahn.

And a consistent roster would be nice.

I'd prefer that there will be no crossovers... Besides, from what people have been saying about fatalities being made already... I don't think this might be a crossover game...

But yet again, how much do we already know about this game anyways?

We could use some different story types, and this one sounds okay. Even though I'd tweak the hell out of it, and exclude anything having to do with a crossover.

But yea.

Woah woah woah, who said that I was supposing that the next game would be MKvsDCU 2? I'm talking about sometime in the future, you know, after a proper MK 9 and maybe another Shaolin Monks-esque game... I flippin' want some REAL MK, here and now.

For the love of Christ, put some thought into your post next time. Simple, single word comments that offer no insight into your thought process parallel you to having the educational background of the spawn of a mentally retarded llama and a GamePro editor. Then again, the evidence of your user name and number of visits probably equate that your education likely is of that level.

Then again, you did use proper punctuation. I'll give you a point for that.
