I was going to post this in another post, but all the other ones on this topic have become convoluted so I figured Id make another.. sorry if that upsets some people, i just want it read.

One of the best features of Armageddon was the Kreate a Fighter option. This really made the game for me, and i think this feature has enormous potential in MK8. Not only will it be on Next Gen consels, but there the MK team now has experience in this field and can vastly improve on it.

Heres my ideas for adding and improving KAF---

CHARACTERS: Boon has stated that hes kinda wiping the slate clean, which means a bunch of new characters... that doesnt mean that we shouldnt be able to make ones that arent included in the game. I think that the costumes atleast, should be available from all the classic past mk characters. IE, if Kung Laos not in MK8, then i will atleast be able to make a picture perfect Kung Lao in KAF, moves included as well. This would please fans whos favorite character is left out of MK8.

CHARACTER MODELS: I liked how we were able to not only make reptiles race, but barakas as well. They should expand on this in the next game. Id like to be able to make other races as well, Shokan, Minotaur and possibly even a Cintaur. New races would be very cool as well!! Cat faces maybe??? IT would be very cool to be able to make the ORIGNAL design of Kintaro smile Or how about a cyclops?? Werewolf??

A variance in character size would also be cool. I would like to be able to make not only ripped characters, but fat ones as well.

BODY DESIGNS- It would be great if we could modify the skin designs as well!! IE- Tiger stripes for the ORIGINAL KINTARO smile or maybe leopard print like Goro has. How about a few others??? How about a Plain Skeleton?? IT would be sweet to be able to create SPINAL from Killer Instinct!!

Also, more tatoos would be nice, facial tatoos, facial gem stones, things like that. All of which add to the unique ness of peoples KAF

EFFECTS: This time around add character effects!! If smoke is in the game, or if someone makes him in KAF, give them the option of a smoke effect around his body. Other affects would be cool as well. IF you wanted a character engulfed in flames, add that option. that way they could make a real blaze, or the fire god, or whatever they liked. If someone wants to make a new ONI, it would be nice to have the option of having flies buzzing around them. Things like that would be really nice.

MOVES: Add ALL the classic moves from all the MK games. That way characters who arent included in the game can be made in KAF, with all their classic moves.. Also add moves that have never been in an MK game before!

WEAPONS: Just give more options! Sais, Nunchucks, Sicle?


ANyways, thats all I can think of for now, let me know what you think!! Let me know what I left out and what else they could add to Improve KAF!! Thank you!!!

I'm guessing you think you're favourite character won't be in MK8 then? :)

It was a nice list of ideas though for KAF.
I'll come back if i ever think of anything. Ideas are rushing through my head at the moment :)
Can the weapons be colored? Also, can there be dual weapons?

Good Call! weapons really do need an improvement. Id also like to be able to change the color of projectiles.
Another thing I would prefer was if you could layer some items.

It was so annoying in Armageddon not having enough coins on certain items as you spent them on the moves etc, Arcade mode was too slow in getting the coins, and some people got annoyed at repeating Konquest over to get the coins.


Please have more templates, then customize the templates. At the moment we are basically purchasing all the templates, its expensive.
I hear they were once in, but then taken out... dumb move, please put them back in.

Nice thread!

Alright, KAF is a good concept, but IMO, it honestly sucks the world's butt, and I don't care if I sound childish!

The options are extremely limited, and every KAK pretty much looks the same in the face, which is just depressing. The attacks are very few, as well as the weapons and the amount of freedom we have to give the KAK a story.

So here are my suggestions for the next-gen KAK feature:

1. Extended Physical Customization
We need more options to customize our KAK's appearence, and I'm not talking just clothing or costume: I'm talking PHYSICALLY. We need to be able to modify our KAK's facial features. Make their noses bigger or smaller, eyes wider or narrower, differnet hairstyles and lengths. One KAK should be able to look 100% different from another KAK, without similarities. They also need to include different parts of the MK character's costumes. I should be able to put Sonya's thong and Motaro's horns on my KAK and make some centaur stripper!

2. More Moves
We have too little moves to give our characters. For MK:8, we need to have the option of bringing back all the old-time favorite specials, like the topic-starter stated. Leg Grab, Net for cybernatic KAKs, bycicle kicks, etc., etc. Like it's been said, we should be able to create a perfect version of an MK character, moves included. Also give us more original moves that the MK characters don't yet have, so we can feel like our KAK has an identity of his/her own, and is not just a carbon-copy or a spin-off of another character.

3. NON-CHEAP Moves and Kombos
The MK Team needs to recognize a move or a combination of attacks for how cheap they are. I shouldn't be able to create a KAK that can take 90% of another fighter's health away with one string of attacks, otherwise the whole fun of KAK-making is ruined. Force the KAK's creator to balance his/her character out! If the KAK has a certain attack that can lead to countless other unblockable ones, then don't give the creator the option of doing just that! Block out options accordingly, so every KAK is balanced.

4. WEAPONS
Too little weapons, and all of them look like copies that MK characters already have, and not even the best ones. We need more weapons from the characters as well as original weapons.

5. MODIFICATION
We need to be able to modify things about the KAK that we can't right now. Change the color shown during a special attack, change the texture or color of a weapon, add a lighting or mist effect (or something else of the type) to a "normal"-looking attack, all that crap.

6. FATALITIES!!!!
Give us templates of fatalities the other MK:8 characters don't have, as well as ones they do. Maybe even have a fatality-creation system where we string together different lethal moves ala KAF of Armageddon, only way better and not as lazy.

7. Storyline
I should be able to give my KAK a decent bio and an ending, and not just a bunch of ALL CAPITILIZED WORDS that appear during my lame Kata ending and DON'T EVEN FIT CORRECTLY IN THE SENTENCES. Seriously, the "story" feature of Armageddon's KAK caused suicides because of how much it sucked. Revamp it, please.

That's all I got for now. If they bring back KAK, then it needs to be 100 times more interactive than it is now: take an example from the wrestling games like Smackdown Vs. Raw, whose character-creation features are awesome! Either that, or leave KAK out next-gen so it doesn't stink up the rest of the game.

It's been a while since I've posted anything like this.

Character Models:
While the MKA character generator had some good things about it for a first time attempt, it needs more. Give us the ability to not only to place the eyes at a certain height or at a certain width, but give us the ability to change the eye shape, diameter, depth, eye color, eye brows, everything that comes with customizing the character. Also, we should have more than just the standard male and female archetypes. I mean c'mon, MK has Shokan, Centaur, Zeteran, and even Elementals as races in it's roster. Don't limit us to just male or female. Some extra species wouldn't hurt either. What if I want to make Kintaro the way he was supposed to be, as a bipedal tiger. I should have that option.

Fighting Styles:
Giving a character an already used fighting style keeps it practical of course, but give us something more to work with. Give us at least 10 extra styles that we can play around with which are exclusive to just the fighter generator. Just adding those styles can greatly increase the flexibility that a person can have with creating a character.

Weapons: This is something that MK can take from SoulCalibur as a franchise since even though the game had very few new weapons in it's own generator, it at least gave you more variety. Your created character could use weapons that the main characters couldn't, and even when they did use similar or even identical weapons, there were still applications that main characters couldn't do. Take the kunai blades for instance. If you gave that to an assassin or ninja they could do moves that somebody like Taki couldn't pull off. That's something I want to see in Mortal Kombat. My most wanted feature though is the inclusion of segmented weapons. Tri-sectioned staffs, whip chains, chain blades, anything that can be swung around and has less rigidity than something like a bo staff or a warhammer.

Powers:
This is basically the same thing that has been said with the Weapons section. There are moves that characters have now which were replacements for moves they've had in their earlier appearances. Let's not throw those old moves away, and instead archive them with some new and original moves that can be used for created characters. Syndel's hair whip, Cyrax's net, Kabal's floor blade, Reptiles Force Ball. All of these can be brought back and retuned.

Fatalities:
Custom Characters should have custom fatalities. It makes them more unique that way. At the very least, limit a character's fatalities to how they were built. I don't want to see somebody doing Sub-Zero's Ice Pitch unless they're a cryomancer. Same goes for something like Sektor's Flamethrower. If the character has that attachment or can at least spew a constant jet of flame then fine, by all means. But there should be an option to at least string together different animations for different circumstances, a bit like MKA's Create A Fatality but more in depth.

Misc.
Face Capture: The 360 and PS3 both have cameras, let's use them. If you really want to put yourself into a fighting game, let's have the option of taking a picture of your face and then have it mapped to the character model.

Photoshop: Ok, this is the best way I could label this. But being a person who's played Forza 2 and seen how flexible a painting engine in a game like that can be, I'd like to see it being applied in fighting games. Give us blank slates of clothing, let us determine what color, what design, what length, etc. it should be.

Online Support:
No fighting has really done this to a T but start looking at the competition and what they're adding to the online experience and build off of that. Have a lobby, show some recorded matches in a Round Robin/Spectator mode. Keep stats of wins, losses, highest combos, fastes victories, longest matches. And of course, downloadable content that's actually worth getting would be nice.
