TRMK is pulling shit out of their asses. Why in God's name would MK head in the direction of a VS game? that is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. It sounds something like a 12 year old noob came up with. Ya there's plenty on this site forum as well.

The MK franchise is not worth tampering with, as such making it a VS game. Street Fighter had a larger fan base, and the 2D fighting engine made it work with a VS game with Capcom characters.

Plus they mention that Ed Boon wants the new game to be 100% serious (which is true, proof is in the interview posted back in April)... darker, grittier, built from the ground up. Well, guess what, every MK game is build from the ground up (from 2002-present day). That doesn't mean MK8 is going to be a VS game.

Now here is only one possibility I can think of, if this rumor were to be true. MK vs. DC via XBox live, with the old school trilogy engine. But still I find it hard to believe.

Until I see some proof, this is bull.

I completely agree with Armaggon. If they do make a VS game (which I still hope not) it SHOULD be MK vs KI-- no doubt.

A problem with this MK VS KI idea is that the cast of the next MK game is supposed to be almost all new characters.

The fantasy matchups won't be possible for the most part.

Also, because it's almost all new fighters, it would probably feel more like KI3 with a few guest MK characters, than MK VS KI.

If they ever did mk vs Ki it'd just be on the 360, as rare is owned by Microsoft.

Atleast make 2d MK vs KI as a mini game.

More like a perpetuation of the rumor. Put forth by some (1)inconsistent, (2)desperate, or (3)sheer jackass("ha ha, jokes on the Mk fans") person. TRMK looks to have "peddled" the information instead of confirmed with the source, essentially.

Enough momentum will make any information in-to a "supposed truth".... = rumor. So no, I don't believe it's TRMKs' "fault". More like, an honest mistake for not gaining the renowned access to the source we are used to them getting .

...Because it's what all these sites are supposed to do..."report the news".

Another recommendation? Ridicule the source of the rumor (get to the point).

Aww you just shattered the very little bit of my hopes left for a new KI title. Anywho, I'm glad the next MK title will be for all the major next-gen consoles.

The thing that doesn't make sense is MK (a violence-driven fighting game) associating with non-violent games or universes like DC and Street Fighter.

If they make MK vs. Street Fighter, are the street fighters gonna be able to do fatalities? If yes, then it would be more of an MK game, right? Same thing with the DC rumor. Superman is gonna ruthlessly tear out your spine or knock your head off?

I think the only game/universe MK can deal with is one that is also prominenty violent. Otherwise, if it doesn't have violence, it won't be MK, and if it does, it'll be too much MK.

I say MK should just stay with making MK games and not putting itself against other games or fighters of any sort.

I hate when people try to take advantage just because Ed Boon said in an interview that he takes rumors and puts them into the game. MK vs DC=Really...REALLY bad idea, MK8(by itself)=Good idea.

it say that next year they have a new mortal kombat game. i jsut want to know if anyone has heard of it yet. or the name of it.

My friend over at Midway says that the Next MK will be MK vs Newline Cinema, and Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Leatherface and possibly Michael(Pending if Newline can get the character rights) will be facing off against all of the MK universe. Rumor has it that Pinhead will join forces with Shinnok ;)

An MK vs game I don't see it happening. It worked for SF but then again there were like 20 SF games released in like 2 years. A vs MK won t work because it won't be MK anymore but a cheap knockoff that dosen't really have a story without much of a chance at a story or character develpoment.
A vs game has already been done and we dont need (or want) another SF. Midway would just be flushing the franchise down the tube by makin it a darker SF if they make the next MK a vs game.
