MK Characters are gods?
Think bout this. What if Blaze from Armageddon not only the one who gave Taven god like powers but everyone who surived . Think bout it. The elder gods have to be in MK 8. The title is Mortal Kombat: Battle of the Gods or something like that.

I dream of the day when the Gods personally get involved in mortal kombat. Think about all their powers and shit. It would be awesome.

The elder gods can’t get directly involved, or they risk awakening the one being.
Which will make existence become kaput.
For the idea, I don’t really like it. For me, part of the appeal of Mortal Kombat was actual mortals fighting against the odds to reclaim their realm. With everybody becoming gods, there isn’t a whole lot of struggle and hardly any consequence.

Shinnok was an elder god, and he still participates in MK? Doesn't he? Or at least used to if he wasn't killed off. So yeah, it's possible. There are no absolutes in Mortal Kombat.

I would hate the idea of all of the characters becoming gods. It's stupid, unnecessary, and it cheapens the story.

If they did all become gods then they couldn't really call it "mortal" kombat anymore, now could they?

I was too slow on the War Gods jab...
Personally, I think the god angle is kinda meh at the moment. Sub-Zero fought them in Mythologies. Rayden has been duking it out since MK1 (supposedly as a rebel) and Fujin and Shinnok don't do anything to help the matter. Sub-Zero is practically (or literally if you buy his MKA ending) an ice god himself. Maybe they should take the Spawn approach and get rid of all these god characters that only fuddle up things more and more.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the current god characters.
But everyone should have the potential of being beaten, or you’re really just fighting an endless battle for no reason.
Raiden is a great example of a god that has faced defeat. When he blew himself up, he was supposed to be reborn with no knowledge of the past. But he remembers everything and became intolerant, borderline Hotaru’s belief structure. At least he didn’t die and nothing happens like some of the others.
Fujin is to Raiden as Kung Lao is to Liu Kang. Fujin seems more reserved and works more out of sight. If he ever gets defeated, he faces the same threat Raiden would’ve.
I don’t know how powerful Shinnok is since he stopped being an elder god, but getting his ass kicked by Johnny Cage of all people says something.
The current gods work, but if there were more, how many times can you use the “slate being wiped clean” technique and keep it interesting.

While I agree with everything else, I don't ever recall Shinnok getting his ass kicked by Johnny Cage.

What he really means is that Johnny Cage defeated Shinnok's doppelganger. It wasn't the real Shinnok that he was fighting, and I'm pretty sure that the doppelganger let him win on purpose. It's all part of Shinnok's plan to lure the Forces of Light and Darkness to their destruction.
It’s from Cage’s MKA bio.
After rereading it, it does make more sense it would be his doppelganger. I just assumed it was the real him.

This is a good idea except one thing....THE GAME IS CALLED MORTAL KOMBAT!!!!!
If the game was God Kombat or IMMORTAL Kombat....that would be different.
I hope to God that Boon doesnt listen to the fools...sorry...I meant the people who write these threads

Immortal Kombat is more like it. Then what's the fun out of playing a game where you're charactrers are Immortal huh? Not fun at all.
well it seems these gods are limited if your thinking of the general term of a god which is all powerful and junk remember it seems during the tournament these gods have limitations i mean look at raiden fujin and shinnok (though shinnok is a fallen elder god )
still the point is tavens ending did say it made them more powerful but im sure not god like since this power spread to all 60 some characters , cause in the endings all of blazes power goes into one character making them a full god.
i think because this power divided to all characters maybe there all just a little more stronger but not godlike.
also maybe not all of them lived through this battle.
so theres something to think about :)

Well Subby, It is questionable if it is The true Shinnok or the Doppleganger.
Don't forget that the Mk1 Sub Zero and Liu Kang have defeated him before and it stands to reason that it is a possiblity that Cage could defeat the True Shinnok.

Actually, it's not questionable at all if you use common sense and know the story. Older Sub-Zero and Liu Kang defeated Shinnok, but they didn't kill him. Don't forget that Shinnok was banished to the Netherrealm once more after his defeat by Liu Kang (and probably Raiden). So since he himself can't get out of the Netherrealm, he creates his doppelganger to do certain tasks for him. The real Shinnok would likely destroy Johnny Cage, and if you really thought that Johnny Cage fought and easily defeated the real Shinnok, you definitely aren't using common sense.

Anywho, I'm not sure I'd want to see Elder Gods etc fight in MK then it's not "Mortal Kombat" then lol
Besides, I'm fine with the God's we have seen Fujin, Raiden(possibly Sub now should his MKA ending be canon.)
You don't want too many God's in there, at least I don't but a few more or returning God's would be cool.
