Don't know if this is a april joke or has something to do with MK9.

PLus I found the MK2 vs UMK 3 poll Boon did on his twitter interesting. Wondering if this has something to do with future MK's.

I also thought that the MK2 vs UMK3 poll was interesting. I liked UMK3 back in the day, but man... The ninja costumes are the ugliest in the series... All of the costumes are hideous (Shang Tsung in particular, with his doom diaper/shirt or whatever...eeeh yuck) for that matter.

Then of course, the combo system is horrendous. Unless you're playing someone else that LOVES MK and has the combos memorized, the game was pointless to play. Sure, MK3 was fun in arcades because you got the chance to play people that knew what they were doing, but while all of my friends loved MK1 and MK2, not ONE of them was willing to learn the combos for MK3.

I really hope going forward that the combos are more intuitive not wonky, stuttery animation having dial-a-combos. MK vs DC was a step in the right direction, but I'm honestly shocked that so many people liked UMK3 more than MK2. I think that even Ed was surprised given his reaction.

It would be nice to know why people voted MK2 or UMK3. I didn't find the results that suprising. Because I often see a lot of people praising UMK3. I liked the game. The thing I liked most where the advanced juggle combo's.

But MK 2 is perfect. Great folluw up story with Kahn. Different setting. More and great moves/fatalities. No filler characters. Humor. But besides all these individual things..was the whole vibe of the game. It had such a great athmosphere.

I wonder why Boon did this Poll...I haven't got a twitter account so I hope someone pops this question.

Probably he's going to include an MK game with either a special addition or hidden in MK8 itself.

As for the results, MK2 may be nostalgic, but I don't think anyone would argue that U/MK3 had better fight mechanics and roster.

I hope Zebron is in the next game.

I want a online playable version of MK Trilogy that would be the best bonus content.

It would def be nice to have UMK3 on a special edition or something for the PS3 with online play. But I hope WB will release the special editions in europe too unlike Midway.

Europeans might have a better chance of getting the collectors edition with Warner Bros, seeing as for example the F.E.A.R 2 special edition also came to Europe.
Perhaps there will be news in April after all.

If that poll has anything to do with bonus content, I'd love to see them go all out:

In other words, say they decide to include MK2 as a bonus (which I'd MUCH rather have than some dumb half baked kart racer or MK chess etc), I'd want to see them do the following:

1) Add alt costumes for the characters: Not sure if this is possible, but it would be a nice addition.

2) Add new special moves: It would be nice to see the old characters get some new life this way.

3) Add Jade, Smoke, Noob, Kintaro and Shao Khan as playable characters: But also give them original moves, so Jade isn't Mileena/Kitana, she has her boomerang, her staff etc.

4) Add two new backgrounds: Again, bonus content.

5) Add three characters: I'd say Kano, Sonya and perhaps a Portal Guardian or some other completely new character.

Granted, I know that none of this stuff would happen. But my feeling is that while I love MK2, I've played the game about a million times. It's the same on the arcade, Genesis, SNES, Saturn, in Midway classics games etc etc.

If you want to put something in as legitimate BONUS content, then spruce it up! Optimize it! Some new music, no load times, and a ton of extra content. Maybe even some now play modes. Make it new again, ya know? Give MK fans a real treat and a real surprise!

Again, I know this wouldn't happen, but I think that it would be fun to give the fans something extra and unexpected like this. Maybe even give them the full and complete vision for what MK2 was supposed to be originally, if they'd planned for more but had to scale it back. Or maybe simply just their ideal, perfect vision for MK2 if it was more than what we got.

Just a thought.

The chance of MK2 appearing as a bonus in MK9 is low as it's still on Playstation Store. I don't think they would do it.

They should put MK 2 on the 360 version and UMK 3 on the PS3 version as I don't think each console has both.

He could have done it to possibly find out which characters to choose for MK9. He could have done it to see what kind of vibe the fans wanted. The dark/evil atmosphere that MK2 had, or the newer/upbeat atmosphere that UMK3 had. Or Boon just wanted to know what game we liked better!

We already had MK2 arcade version as a bonus in MKSM.

I rather have UMK3 arcade version instead of MK2 with his annoying AI who can predict all your moves and uppercut you when you are uppercutting.
