Magic Fatalities VS Physical Fatalities
Magic Fatalities VS Physical Fatalities
I really liked most of the fatalities in MK9, but there was this small little problem.
Most of them were ripping, slashing and pounding, not much magical fatalities at all...
In MKX I hope some characters that would make sense to have magical fatalities really have such fatalities instead of just slashing their legs off (i'm looking at you Quan Chi)
Really the likes of Quan Chi & CO must have magical/necromantic and other such fatalities (such as summoning the skeleton from the still living body) instead of just hacking and slashing...
What characters would you like to have magical fatalities? Or do you rather keep all fatalities like in MK9, without elements/magic/ect and with swords/claws and teeth?

Sindel never fails in this sense, and neither does Shang Tsung.
The thing is most MK characters are physical fighters. There aren't that many that generally use magic. We know Kitana is capable of certain feats, but she isn't a magic user; her mother is. We also know Johnny Cage possesses a great deal of supernatural power, but he's a physical man, not an energetic one.
I think the magical fatalities should be left to those who actually use magic, like Sindel, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, and Ermac, among others. The rest should have fatalities fitting to how they physically fight.

I think they were sort of forced into those style of fatalities because of the the way the cut point system works. It seems like the one in MKX has a lot more flexibility so we'll be seeing more imaginative stuff.

Yeah I would like a good mixture of both types of fatalities. the magic fatalities are so underused and the hack'em fatalities are overused but I like them both.
I want more
1) Elemental fatalities, killing the foe with fire, earth, darkness, wind, ice, water, steel, wood and light.
2) Magical Fatalities, putting those special moves to good use! Skeletons, magical suicides, telekinetic, soul-stealing, dream-torture, voodoo and all that types of non-ripping horrors.
3) Shapeshift fatalities, turning into werewolves, wasp horrors and other otherwordly demons (i'm looking at you Sareena).
4) Replacement fatalities much like Scorpions welcome to hell fatality.
5) Summon fatalities, summon other horrors into the battle to do a co-op fatality (noob saibot) or let the minions do the job (D'vorah)
6) Kisses of Death!!!! Damn I miss the kisses in MK9... Tanya's kiss of horrible disfiguration should return at all cost!!!
That would be cool already.
The characters I really want to have any-of-these-types magical fatalities are:
D'vorah, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Kotal Kahn, Cassie Cage.
IF in the game I want the following characters to have magical fatalities: Sonya Blade, Kitana, Jade, Sindel, Nightwolf, Quan Chi, Shang Tsung, Smoke, Noob, Reptile, Skarlet, Shinnock, Lui Kang (dragon), Ermac, Kenshi, Ashrah, Cyrax, Sektor, Rain, Frost, Nitara, Fujin, Tanya, Sareena, Havik, Hotaru and Raiden.

I think the best mix had MK2. Soul Steal, Toasty, Ice Shatter, Dragon, Kiss Of Death and maybe even Ice Grenade has to do with the elements or Magic (or both). I think if 1/3 fatalities involved magic/elements in MKX.. I will be satisfied :D
Hell.. in MK3 were also some magic fatalities like Soul Steal, Jax Stomp, both of Sub Zero, both of Nightwolf.
And if Tsung is in MKX... Make sure he has his Soul Steal, Ed!

Of all of Shang's Soul Steals, his best one will always be his MK2. All his other ones sucked.
However, I would rather want Ermac to attain the Soul Steal which he was given in an early trailer for MK9.

Good grief im glad im not the only one extremely bored of CUT-CHOP fatalities and i hope there are more magic/summon based fatalities on MKX.
The fatalities i love the most are where strange things happen to the body such as the soul steal, how it ends up all dried up. Or how about reptile's acid bath from MK3! Love how after its covered in acid the body turns into a super gross pulp.
In my opinion MK9 had way too many fatalities that had different executions but the same outcome. And i fear Netherrealm studios and its Gore-Tech 3.0 is focusing again way too much in million ways to cut a body... so i dont think we'll be getting many magic based fatalities. I hope im wrong though!!!

Yes, but it's possible, just look at the awesome Nightwolf ray-from-heaven fatality in MK9, Ermac's fatalities and Scorpions hell portal!
Too bad, Sonya Blade lost her kiss, Shang lost his soul steal, Kitana only uses her fans and there wasn't much magican left in Quan Chi (he was the worst of the lot)
I agree on those fatalities u mentioned! They showed imagination on them and they feel original. With that said, take a look at the body models, they end up being the same. Every MK has hd recycled models for fatalities though but some of them were TRULY UNIQUE, such as the soul steal from both MK2 and MK3 and the acid bath from UMK3. The body remains ends up having a unique non-repeated look. Man i just watched them right now as i was writing ahaha they rule
Actually I find Shang Tsung's MK2 soul steal to be boring. It's basically picking up someone who desiccates. green lightshow added. At least in MKD he dutifully smashed the opponent into a pulp.
Come to think of it, does anyone notice that Shang Tsung really likes to stomp on people?
MKDA: run up on people and stomp them. fatality is basically slamming the opponent and stomping him/her.
Shaolin Monks: intro sequence, he lands on Kang's bowels before Kung cheats.
MKA: slams onto the dying Kenshi.

Nothing magical about stomping someones out of them. MK 2 Soul Steal was and still is the best.
I think a good fatality for Quan Chi would be for him to open a portal underneath the opponent, and a bunch of undead minions come out and claw the shit out of him/her before dragging him/her into the Netherrealm.
Another could be him summoning a massive skull which savagely eats the opponent.

You know what? That would be an awesome one, and TWIST the skeleton is actually Scorpion in disguise... No?
I'm all for more magical fatalities, but only if they rely on magic. Cassie Cage having a magical one doesn't make much sense to me.
And I hope Havik has some really bizarre fatalities lol. It'd be quite funny if both he and his opponents' bones are seen breaking during his X-ray move.
Cassie Cage could have the magical fire kiss of her mother tho.
I hope Havik does something like Darrius does in MK:Deception, re-organize the victims body in a artistic style, but instead with physical contact like Darrius, Havik does it with chaos magic.
Of course many horrid things can be done with chaos energy. Havik can be the lord of fatalities.
Damn I want to see a conversation between Havik and Tanya! So hope they are both in the game!

First idea is sort of a hybrid of Scorpion's UMK3 fatality with the clones and Shinnok's MK4 fatality. Not a bad suggestion though.
Second one, meh. Seems like that would've been better in the old days, but if they could make it look cool then I'd approve.
I've always felt that Shang's fatality where the opponent is manipulated into killing themselves was far better suited for Quan Chi. That, and Quan should always have the leg beatdown in some form. That fatality is too great to leave by the wayside.

If Smoke returns he better be blowing up the world again.
Shang's MK2 soul steal was very good but I personally prefer the MK3 one.

I really like when the defeated slides down on Baraka's blades.
