Props to MINION for making this sig.
"The aged heroes, according to Boon, will differ not only in appearance from their younger versions, but will also play differently, and will master moves" (something here like "used in the other incarnations"). "Although Boon was silent as to how precisely the aged characters will be integrated into the game, we strongly feel that they will not be separate characters, but one of the three variations chosen at the selection menu."
This makes it sound like Liu Kang is NOT undead or now a vengeful god or something like that. The way Boon talks about it here makes it sound like Liu Kang has been alive and aging.
But he definitely was killed by Raiden near the end of MK9's storymode.
So my question is this: is it possible Liu Kang could have been resurrected by someone after the ending of MK9? If so who, and for what reason & purpose?
This makes me think of Jason Todd from the Batman universe for some reason. I could see Liu Kang being resentful, vengeful and an anti-hero willing to do whatever is necessary if he is resurrected after MK9's ending. Which is similar to the Jason Todd character after he was resurrected by Ra's al Ghul.
Thoughts? Am I completely out in left field with this one or could there be something to this?

I really wanted him to be the final boss, that would've been crazy, but i guess too predictable.
Yeah I'm a little disappointed if he is back as a 'normal' character again and not a vengeful fire god like his arcade ending. I had my fingers crossed for that.
Sex is Evil, Evil is Sin, Sin is forgiven, so Sex is in.
I kill people for a living. Get over it.
Just a burn victim now due to being turned into a human lightning rod
Died laughing. Haha!
*Insert several users bursting in here claiming he really "died" at the end of the story*
Anyways, I just hope it's not by Raiden. And I hope he's not the end boss.
Hoping that it's not that predictable.
Predictability aside, would Liu Kang as the boss be so bad?
No trying to be facetious, mind you. Just curious.

Would it be a bad thing? No. But I can see that a lot of people might have a problem with it. The thing with me is just that he's not the kind of character I can see be an end boss type of character, even if he magically gets infused with some new power. Granted he's a Mortal Kombat champion, he's got the dragon thing, but I just cannot see him be end boss material.
I guess you can sort of say that Deception left a horrid impression for me to see anything new happen to this character. And granted, one game should not make a difference. But I was literally scarred for quite some time about the whole zombie Liu Kang that I really said to myself, "I hope to never see anything new with this character."
And yeah, I really didn't care for Deception a whole lot.
By Ed Boon, because he couldn't let Liu Kang stay dead for one game.
Ed Boon, age fifty, resides in Chicago, Illinois, the man responsible for every single thing in this game. A genius, using only himself to create Mortal Kombat X. He is the sole man in Netherrealm Studios. They say that he works with other people, but he made it possible to create them as an illusion. No other person works at Netherrealm Studios but him.
I'm in awe, because I would love to know for all these years, how he managed to pull off such a genius move of making us believe he's always had a team behind him. I believe the power comes from his eyebrows.
See how dumb that is? No, Boon did not RESURRECT Liu Kang.
What in god's name did this man do to you that has you constantly believing he's the only person who makes decisions? Because clearly you call him out on every single thing you've disliked so far in this game, what other things has this man done?

Liu Kang was dead in MKDA, so you're wrong... again.
Thanks to MINION for taking my Siginity!

I'm still hoping Shao Kahn will take over Liu Kang's body.
Well, the corpse was near Shao Kahn when the Elder Gods destroyed him. It's a possibility that he jumped into Liu's body when that happened, but I don't think they would do that if MK9's point was to erase Shao Kahn from existence.

Since when was MK9 about erasing Shao Kahn from existence? It was about preventing the events of Armageddon. Doesn't mean Kahn had to die, though that certainly would have helped.
If I am not mistaken, Wasn't shinnok watching the whole debacle with Raiden defeating Shao Kahn (and killing Lui) From some other roof top or some portal or something. He could have easily gone and tended to Lui's body afterward. Assuming Raiden left his body on the roof.
That could be taken into consideration. If Shinnok attended and "healed" Liu, in what form should he return?
