So, gamesradar had an article that details some of Shinnok's moves and one variation he has.
Seeing some familiar faces was great, but the real star of the show was Shinnok, the fallen Elder God. In this game, Shinnok is basically The Emperor from Star Wars. He has a creepy old man face, is driven by pure evil, and actually shoots red lighting out of his hands. I mean, come on. In combat, this fallen god apes a few moves from Shang Tsung, the most notable being a trio of fireballs that erupt from the floor one after another.
It's also interesting to note that, at one point during the fight, Shinnok busted out Johnny Cage's Shadow Kick. I was playing as Cage, but couldn't tell if Shinnok had performed a move that let him copy my Shadow Kick, or if he could just use the move innately because I was Cage. At any rate, it seems Shinnok has been all-but-confirmed to be playable, considering he was all anyone was talking about during the story, and I even saw him fighting during the game's attract mode.
So, from what we can gather about'im, He's got red lightning, ground projectiles that are very Shang-esque, and a variation based on his move copying from MK4.
Now, the big question is, are these moves variation specific or are they universal? One of his trademarks is summoning giant skeleton hands from hell. It's weird the article never mentions this. Could it be that the skelly hands are variation specific?
I'm also worried about the author's word choice here.
This fallen god apes a few moves from Shang tsung, the most notable thing being a trio of fireballs that erupt from the floor one after another.
I really hope this particular move means that the projectiles come up in the same spot, juggling the opponent in the air, rather than far, medium, then close.
And I'm very curious about the Imposter variation and how that'll even work.
anyone else have any thoughts on Shinnok's gameplay?

Imposter variation sounds like he will gain the specials of whoever he is fighting against. Which will make it a difficult variation to learn to play as because you will need to know everyone's specials to really excel with it.
I think his giant skeleton hand summoning powers(lol) could definitely make for a good variation.

I'm sure he'll have the skeleton hands. When the challenge towers were being shown off there were articles that described one of the modifiers being "demon hands rising out of the ground."

Hmmmmm so do u think Shang does not have a chance to be dlc now?So, gamesradar had an article that details some of Shinnok's moves and one variation he has.

From a game play stand point this can't be true, can it? Like that would double his moveset and make him beyond powerful. Its gotta be like a Shang Tsung soul steal type of move. Like he has to catch you with a soul steal and then can duplicate your moves for higher damage but also for a limited amount of time, maybe he can't even perform his own moves while in this mode. That combined with the three upwards shooting fire ball thing kinda worries me also, there is like a million awesome things they can do with Shinnok and I'd hate for one of his variations to just be MK9 Shang. The red electricity sounds epic tho, Raiden looks amazing in this game so I can't wait to see Shinnok's electricity moves. And I'm with OP, I wanna see those goddamn giant skeleton hands fuck shit up.
Overall I am insanely excited for Shinnok, if he is in I have to main him. No way around it, his appearance alone practically gives me the nerd shakes. Still though I'm trying to keep my expectations in check because there is still a chance he's like just a minor boss fight. Which might explain why he seems to barrow so heavily from Shang, kinda like he isn't a fully complete character. Sorry to be a wet blanket but somebody has to. If they mention more than one of his variations than I would be without a doubt sold.

Idk I was thinking that Kang and Tsung were going to be the two classic characters in the kombat pack since they are the only MK1 characters not confirmed playable in this game so far. Not sure though since that fireball attack literally sounds like an exact copy of Tsung's ground fireballs.
I still don't think that deconfirms them yet though, people were saying Mileena wouldn't be in because D'vorah had a similar move to her ball roll or something, and some people were counting Johnny out because of Cassie, so I still am not convinced yet.

I feel like Liu Kang will be on the initial roster. I think the leak was legit but maybe it just wasnt' necessarily the finalized roster.
I don't know why people keep ignoring where NRS said DLC characters won't be involved in the story. I'm thinking the two 'klassic characters' in the Kombat pack will be Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn.

Shinnok is the saving grace of this roster. I really hope he doesnt play too similar to Shang Tsung because I hated Shang in MK9.

I wish i could get donations on youtube but I am not famous. So I could buy the game and get all the dlc instead of having to wait till the Komplete Edition comes out it is killing me. I love Shinnok but I have to wait a whole year to play as him.

Shin always looked like a boss to me, but never really lived up to his god like playability in the past. MK4 was decent times, but they cut his balls off in MK:Armageddon, lacking any quick string combos.
If they rise to the occassion, and do it right, he should be pure hell to fight against in MKX Story mode.
Yesssssss.... I knew that little creepy MK9 ending ment something, just glad he made it. Plus I already know Quan Chi has a secret role in this madness as well. Keep it under wraps NRS!!!!

it seems from this French site that also tried the demo, reports that this ground projectile is Imposter variation specific, also includes Shao Kahn's Charge move, Crunchy's trance move, and JC's shadow kick.

WOW! He is a damn... imposter?
Lol, I like this variation, It seems pretty cool. A better version of MK4's Shinnok. and it is actually one his powers, that he can do any moves he wants from anybody he wants. I just hope the other variations utilize Skeleton hands.

Shinnok will rock this games roster. I look forward to the many countless hours I will put in with him. If my kung fu is stronger was an achievement for him only id devote my time to it 10 fold. He is the main of mains for me. He will be the only one I play both casually and competitively.
Glad he's playable and finally looking like his potential will be fulfilled, especially with Shang Tsung dead. I still love that name, but it makes sense to have Shinnok kind of replace him. There's no need for Shang, please let him stay dead and not be a DLC (he's not story related!).
Really hope Shinnok can copy the opponents moves in one of his variations or across all and not just when you play him in story mode. Hope they give Shinnok all of Shang's best moves! Maybe he can get the soul stealing fatality as well :D
